tein basics vs. ksports or others

I'm hopefully going to upgrade my suspension soon, probably going from my Illumina/S.Tech set up to coil-overs, which ones would you recommend and why?

I know the ride will not be that great, but I'd like more comfort than extreme performance, so something that is still a good performance coil-over and has some level of comfort to it

thanks

I'm wondering the same thing but from what I know KSports will let you slam your car, which will give you a harsher ride. On the other hand with the Basics you can drop it to about 2.5 in and you will get a bouncy ride. If you stay around 2.0 in your ride will be perfect as far as I have heard.

But yea I am also in the market for suspension but thats what I have noticed.

see, I wanna go lower than I am currently, which is 2.2" F 1.8" R, I'd be happier with 2.5" or so all around

If your getting coilovers to lower the car, make sure they have adjustable lower mounts. The setup like Tein basic lower the car the same way as Ground Control or simple lowering springs. The lower you go the less travel you have. The adjustable mount lets you drop the car and maintain suspension travel.

This subject has been covered a million times.

Furthermore, your quote indicates to me that it is not a subject for "advanced suspension" but rather for the general forums

I'd like more comfort than extreme performance
Moving this to the 4th gen forum where you all can discuss ride quality and a "good looking drop," and you will get more response from people who care about that aspect

Tein Basics are more dress springs while providing good handling can be a bit softer when compared to other coil overs. The Ksport are stiff.

The Ksports are 9/6k, the Teins are 7/6k.

The more I look into it, the less I want generic coilovers. My biggest fear is buying a set, putting them on, and hating the ride, then having to go back to stock and sell everything, and get the setup I should have got from the get go.

unless you want to go for a bumpy ride. Why =do you want to go lower, are you planning on replacing your stock rims?

well, my ride isn't very good right now, I just don't want it much worse, and yes, I'm getting some 17x7.5 5zigens GN+s in a month or so along with a Stillen lip kit

so how do either compare to illuminas with s.techs? better, worse? I can stand a bit worse ride, but I don't want it to be terrible to the extent that I can't drive my car a long distance without going to the chiropractor
