Sounds like your A/C is on high and you have one of the vents closed. Make sure they're all open.

I have the same thing. Does your happen as your engine approaches 2K RPM? If I rev the engine from about 1800-2000 RPM, I notice that the volume (and maybe pitch) increases. Above about 2K RPM, it drops off quickly (so my 'fix' is to just rev the engine a little to go through 2K and then drop back down again - that usually stop it). It doesn't happen all of the time through this range, but enough to be annoying - especially when the radio isn't on, etc.

I know mine is caused by the AC since when this happens I can hold it at just under 2K, and then turn off and back on the AC system. When I do this, the noise stops and then restarts. Try this and let me know.

I've told the dealership about this before my warranty expired, and they said that they heard it but at the time it wasn't too bad and didn't want to take apart all of the AC system to find the problem. They took note of the problem and said that if it gets worse (which it has) to bring it back and they would further diagnose and fix it on their dime, since I first brought it in under warranty. Now that it has gotten worse, I hope that they honor their pledge. I have a feeling it may be the compressor bearings.

I've got an intermittent high-pitch whistle sound just as described right around 1800-2000 RPM but I don't think mine is related to the A/C. I can sometimes re-create by just revving the car while driving to around 2k RPM. I've always though it was some metal part in the engine compartment creating a harmonic noise based on vibration of the engine. I checked all my heat shields and mounts for cracks but they all look good. Still looking but not really that annoying for me..... yet.
