Returning problem when put in drive

Ok i've had this problem before and somehow it got fixed when i took the car to a mechanic for a completely different reason. What happens is i start the car, let it warm up for a minute, put it in drive and feel (and hear) it slam into gear. At that point the rpms drop under 500 and sometimes (this happened before but not this time yet) the car would die on me. When i took it to a mechanic he replaced an injector and and o2 sensor and for some reason after i picked up the car i noticed that it doesnt slam into gear anymore. Now it back and i dread putting it in drive again. Other than that everything seems fine, smooth shifting, smooth acceleration, steady rpm at lights (another problem i had but that was due to a bad injector). Anyway if anyone know why this happens and more importantly how in the hell was it fixed by replacing and injector please share the wisdom

No, check engine light has been off ever since the o2 sensor and injector was replaced. Will look into TPS, thanks
