Good place to have your transmission flushed?

I'm going to be getting my automatic tranny flushed on my 04 soon and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to take it. Or any places that I shouldn't take it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I just talked to nissan about this yesterday. For starters the fluid from the factory is good for 105K. They (dealership) also don't have a machine to do the maxima. I had them check my fluid and they said it looks great. Why are you wanting it flushed? If it's filthy, just have them drain and refill. It's not a cheap process though, they said the fluid in the max is between $12 and $15 per quart.

I just had this done in my car a on Saturday. What they do is drain/fill/run 3 times with the fluid that is right for your car.

IMO if anything, stay away from power flushes, this procedure does not drop the pan of clean the screen or check the gasket. Also ensure they use Genuine Nissan AT Fluid as called for in your owners manual. The Transmission shop that did mine ordered it from the dealer after I showed him my owners manual and he read the warning thus did not want to be liable for damage because he used the wrong AT fluid.

I will definitely make sure they use the correct fluid.

My dealer suggested that I get it flushed a few months ago, but of course the stealership wants to charge me way too much for this. I don't have the means to do it myself (I live in an apartment complex that won't let you work on your car in the parking lot) and I figured maybe I should have it done since it was Nissan that suggested it after doing some other work on my Max.

I just noticed that you live in Bartlett Prjct. I live in Hoffman Estates. Where did you take yours?

I went to my Nissan dealer and they told me that the fluid should be flushed every 30K miles. When I asked about dropping the pan they said they would only do that if the car had a 100k miles on it and the fluid was never replaced. At this point I'll probably just wait because the fluid looks clean.

Dealership charges so much for a tranny flush....if you know a good mechanic (or can do it yourself) they can most definitely do it for cheaper - just make sure the fluid is of the right type.
