Rattling rear speakers

My speakers up by my back window rattle each time the bass hits. Its getting so bad, sometimes even light volume will produce the noise. It sounds like the plastic covers are loose or something. Anybody know a fix for this?

Sounds like you know what the problem is. Clear silicon glue will stop the covers from rattling.

I dont know if this helps, but I had the same problem on my 01, and through testing and testing, I found that it wasn't the cover to the sub, it was the trunklight that has that plastic "eggshell" over the light to keep it from being hit. It opens, obviously so you can replace the light, but mine was loose, and producing quite a loud vibration for such a small piece of plastic.

It started to happen again, and I found out it was the bars that connect the two arms of the trunk lid, so I put some foam over them and finally it was done. (You'd only see how close those two get when the trunk is closed, fold down your rear seats and you'll see that I'm talking about)

Hope this helps

DYNAMAT, or since that "brand" is controversial, get some sort of sound deadening material back there!

I had the SAME EXACT rattles and I dynamated the entire rear and now the bass is unbelievable and there are no more rattles or road noise coming from the rear

It is true Dynamat or similar will help especially if you apply at the right spots (or in the case of PrjctMax - every damn spot he could find).

In reality, 50-60% coverage of Dynamat or similar gives you something like 90+% of the same results as 100% coverage.
