3rd and 4th generation Bose compatiblity

I have an '89 with the Bose casette deck and I would like to upgrade it to a CD HU. Would it work to take a Bose CD from a fourth generation Maxima and stick it in? Also are the speakers form fourth generation Maximas compatable with the third generations?
