Anyone Have A Nismo CAI

I'm considering getting the Nismo CAI only because I can have the dealer install it and have zero worries about any possible warranty issues. I read the Nismo catalog and it said their CAI increases HP by 12 and torque by 8-10 I think. These numbers seem kinda high to me. I was of the belief that you lost torque not gained?

What do you all think?

I have the Nismo CAI and I really like it. It has a nice sound at about 5K RPM's to redline. I intalled it myself, it is very easy, the hardest part was taking off the driver side wheel. As far as HP, I haven't dynoed the car but it does pull strong in the upper RPM range. Also my gas mileage is better when I'm cruising. Hope this helps.

I too have the intake and it has been flawless since install 1.5 years ago. You dont have to remove the driver wheel, just turn it to the left (steering wheel) and partially remove engine compartment cover. The beauty of a dealer install is warranty issues. You wont be dissappointed. Maybe think about adding 5-6 bph, but not 12-14. Mine dynoes right at 222 bhp with just the nismo CAI. i have added other things since then.

Hmm, I believe 222whp is closer to a 10whp gain from stock isnt it?

TQ and HP do increase in the upper rpm range. Low end suffers a bit but I think it's a worthwhile mod. I actually think the Fujita is a better design than the Nismo, with one exception. The Nismo offers the bypass filter, although I never came close to needing it, even with winter driving.

Dealer install? How much are they going to charge? This is a very easy mod save some money and do it yourself. No warranty issue have EVER arose from this mod that I know of. I've been posting here for over a year now and many have put this on without problems. Search the forum and see.

I have this CAI. It was my first mod on my car. I like the extra power I feel in the upper RPM range (>3k) and the fact that when I am driving normally, my wife has not noticed a difference in the sound of the car. When you step on the gas, though, it has a nice, much deeper sound than the stock intake...

ive had the nismo cai a few months ago. there is a small increase in upper range and deeper sound vs. stock.

but the fujita produces more hp than the nismo and sounds way better plus its cheaper....

if your worried about warranty. when you take your car in to get serviced, just remove your nismo and install your stock cai.

the dealer wont know the difference...

stock cai???? do u mean the stock air box???

Dealer wont say crap either way... only thing it can void is your TB warranty... so i have been told.. maybe your MAF also... but most dealers are used to seeing cars come in w/ INtake/exahusat... basic mods...

Unless u r a dck to them... they should not give u a hard time....

Key word...

SHOULDNT

I'm not interested in doing double the work just to feel more comfortable when I bring it in for service. I'd rather spend a bit more $ now and figured for the first 36K I will do only factory "OK" mods. After 36k I'm down for anything.

I'm in the Ft Lauderdale area and I also need a good mechanic to help with a few installs on my baby.

Funny, you mean to tell me that button marked search is actually useful and can help me find info... Anyway I used the search I didn't find the exact info I was looking for so there for I asked a simple question. I even check their website for numbers but with no answer.

But back to that search, I took you advice and searched the words "Fastmax05" and "*****" and sure enough 309320932032 threads popped up. What do you know, that search button does work...

Thank you for the hospitality Fastmax...

I just asked a question after I searched "Fujita" and "Dyno" all in one search only to end up with the first two pages just showing members offering to sell the intakes and other saying they just installed their intake.

But on a serious note I've been skimming this site for over a year and I know I'm not the only member who has left a comments like that about you. I'm not calling you out but I understand that there are some questions that could be answered easily if some peple would but take a look but why complicate things even more by leaving sarcasic remarks. I guess some people are different, I know if I had some valuable info that someone needed I would not hesitate to share even if it was right under their nose.

You deserve a pat on the back and thanks again for your help...

Damn dude.. ..cut him a little slack. He's new and your first response was no help. Treat all the new people that way and maybe they'll all leave. geez

Uptown, I think you are going to get a few more wheel horse power on the Fujita than the Nismo. Also see my post earlier in this thread. The link that Fast referenced show that Swee dynoed up 218whp. That isn't typical from what I've read. I'm not saying she isn't making that HP just that it's not typical. Congrats to her on that! Tek-Niq had it first and dynoed out at 213whp 222tq

I dynoed at 209whp 224tq with just the Nismo CAI. The downside is I didn't do a baseline dyno before installing it.

I will say this, I have replaced my Nismo with a Fujita because my bypass filter broke. Instead of replacing it I thought I'd try the Fujita. So I have had them both on my car. They are very comparable IMHO.

I have the NISMO Cold Air Intake. Real happy. The long ram Fujita is probably just as good. You can also buy the parts at PepBoys and make your own CAI.
