anyone have the cattman headers/y-pipe combo for a 4th gen?

I've got a 99 and I'm just seeing if anyone knows what kinds of gains I could expect with this set-up.

what are the upsides and downfalls to the system, how hard is it to install?

any feedback would be great, thanks

Headers are worthless and a b*tch to install. Just get the y pipe and be happy.

Oh and you can expect 10-12 from the y pipe.

None is needed...for gains this minimal, does it really matter? Get a ypipe unless you want the headers' sound and you're cool with dropping an extra $600 (excluding install fees, or, if you're crazy enough to do it, personal labor).

They are great I switched from stillen Y pipe to catman headers and really felt the difference but it costs much more than any other aftermarket Y pipe, I've found in ebay they sell headers with Y pipe for a very good cheap price I might buy a set for my car since I returned my car NA and hope to break into high 11 sec with NA mods I know it's very hard but possible with high compression engine

NmexMAX stated 18-20whp, that's not a minimal gain to me.

I'd like to see the dyno sheet on that. The fact is that our stock headers do the job just fine. You're wasting money on headers. From what a lot of people have posted on here headers are good for .5-1 hp. If you cool with spending the extra money for a one hp gain then go ahead and get it.

WTF el stupido's, you can't install cattman headers w/o installing the ypipe it comes with. Do some research and stop posting nonsense, it's these dumb posts that make the 4th gen forum hfhgjdjktjfjd$*%&#

Worst part is that it was originally posted in AM. I wasn't the one that moved it though...

umm, well, if you read my post you would see that I'm looking for the combo of the headers AND y-pipe, and it was posted in AM seeing as the guys that post there are more knowledgable than the guys in the 4th gen area seeing as they have a lot of the parts I'm looking for and have more knowledge on installation/installation problems and the like, so excuse me

now stop making ignorant posts bud, I'm doing research so I can have a reliable car that performs well, but apparently hardly anyone wants to help me with that.

You can't install cattman headers w/o a ypipe have you even looked at the headers? Ypipes made for the stock headers are totally different from the cattman headers, it appears you have hardly done ANY research which is why people are reluctant to spoon feed you.

I said I'm looking at the SET, not the seperate parts, the SET, the SET that they sell together, as in the headers/y-pipe COMBO, please understand this, read the thread title and understand, please

This is research, I'm trying to learn some more info on this COMBO, I know the y-pipe for the stock headers won't fit the cattman headers, that's why I'm asking about the SET!

I hope the monotony of this post helps you undersand that I want the header/y-pipe combo, NOT the seperate parts

Dude are you kidding me? It is only sold as a combo you can't install it w/o the combo! You keep posting like people install separately, they dont!

I know they sell the combo and they also sell a y-pipe, I thought you thought I wanted to buy the y-pipe and headers, which wouldn't work

I'm just trying to find out more info on the set-up to see if it's something I'd like to do.

seeing as this IS a maxima website, I thought people might be more helpful on stuff relevant to maximas, I'd just like some info without being yelled at for not having much knowledge on something I'm just now interested in

Just a point to questioning Nmex's data files....DON'T!!!

He probably has the most complete set of run files and analysis of changes of anyone here. I am sure if you PM him he can tell you what every mod can do - DYNO PROVEN!!

word... i was just asking because when i was looking at the dynos for the intake manifold for the 3.5 ppl were questioning its validity (word?) when i thought it was a for sure thing. guess i'll be getting these.

all that other bickering is non-sense.

Thats the first time I've seen significant gains with headers. Maybe I've only been looking at stone mountain racing dynos. Still 600 is a lot of cash...

Do you have any links or runfiles to these other dynos that you speak of?

2004 altima se. now that i look at the kenetix thread, it was you who was questioning the dynos. like i said i don't know what correct dynos look like (not a big hp guy). so basically i was inspired by you to question the truth of your dynos. heh.

It seems the only question not answered is the difficulty of the install. From personal experience, I can tell you that it's not difficult at all, provided you have a very good set of tools consisting of ratchets, short and deep sockets, extensions, elbows, ratchet wrenches....and a whole lot of patience. I chose to work from above, and removed my MEVI for the installation of the rear headers. For the front, remove the radiator and the front headers install easily.

Below is a pick of Cattman Gen 3 headers before the install.

cattman headers

i have the cattman headers and love them. i switched from budget ypipe and sp1 to full cattman setup(headers back) and dont regret it one bit. love the sound, the performance which is definitly noticable over previous setup and no more bees in the can sound that the budget y pipe made. if you have the extra money go for the cattman setup end of story.
