Anyone running lowering springs on stock struts

Anyone running lowering springs on stock struts? Or is this just a wast of time? Mine have 60K on them stock. I am trying to decide if I should just get one of the tokico sets blues or illuminas with there springs. They seem reasonably priced But if I can just run the stock struts I could spend the money elsewhere.

i got stock struts running with vortach springs some company made by eibach or tokico dont remember. Ride is ok just real bumpy on the highway sometimes. Gonna upgrade very very soon take it from me just save up and get aftermarket struts also i got a 3 finger gap all the way around. Bottom line dont waste your time go aftermarket and do things right the first time

Your struts will blow if you are running aftermarket springs with the stock struts. Also tokico blues wont give you much of a drop and are the closest aftermarket struts to the stock ones. Go with something that'll give you a farther drop.

Stock struts will blow eventually, but faster on lowered springs. You probably can get away with tein h techs but that's not much of a drop, I would get the illumina kit or if you can find the ksport or tein coilover setup. So yes it would be a waste of time to put lowering springs on stock strut unless you like doing stuff twice or are just buying some time. When they blow the car will be bouncy and bottom out easy.

I'd try to go with Illuminas or AGXs. Performance Peddler still has Illuminas for $408 shipped I believe for Max.org members. You have to tell them that you are an org member and you might have to speak to the manager. But I called them about a month ago and asked about it. (unfortunately I couldn;t have them shipped fast enough so I didn't get them)

someone verify that they are in fact $408. I think that was the number.

Ha, no. Good struts are not cheap.

What order are your goals/preferences:
comfort
looks
price

And no, dont lower your car on the stock struts.

1.Comfort, first. I had coilovers on a 944 and hated it, way to harse for a daily
2.looks
3.Price

These are my goals.

Are they comfortable, though? My H-techs rode better than my H&Rs, while looking better and giving the same handling...

They're my daily driver. They absorb bumps better than stock, and the ride is fantastic. Extremely smooth, especially on the highway.

Then go shortend Konis and pair them with Htechs, Tokico, or Progress springs.

I read a post where a 5th gen guy is running H&Rs with the stock struts and he loves it. He had the ilumminas and switched back to stock. This may not be true for the 4th gen cars, I'm not sure any thoughts

It is not true of 4th gens. You can run them, but they suck. Bad ride, blows struts quickly. Aviod.
