OK i made a boo boo 9660rpms recorded
Well i went to the track tonight to try the car out on 9 psi. The best I can say for the it was a trap of 85mph in the 1/8 mile. Ok the last run I made was the run I stuck 3rd gear for first. Well after that happend I cut the car off because the oil light came on with check engine light too. The power steering belt flew off in the procese. Well I got the car back to the staging lanes and started looking around to see if I could see the sending unit hoping that the power steering may have flew off and broke it. But that wasnt the case. When I crank it the car has no oil pressure and their is a little noise in the timing case. Its not knocking.
So my first question is Im wondering If I replace the oil pump is the motor toast?
How many other have broke oil pumps and what was your out come?

There have been many instances where people mistake 2nd for fourth. And record well over what our Tach's read, and they go to start the car and it runs absolutley perfectly. But i've sure as hell never heard of 9600 rpms. Hope it works out...Possible Vq35?
Ouch sorry to hear that

uummmm ... Maxima = NOT an Indy car mate! lol sorry bout the mishap, learn to drive a manual!
I'd pull the cover and see if there is any "junk" in there while also replacing the oil pump and sending unit. Can't be good on the engine, but ... if ya didn't put a rod thru the case, I'm gonna bet you're ok.
Cheers!

to the op: i bet you'll be ok. and used VQs are dirt cheap.
Sounds as if the oil pump is surely trashed, entire motor may be as well from floating valves right into your pistons. Some guys have gotten away with this (I did a few times when I first got the max) other guys have trashed a motor on their first mis-shift.
