First of all, they are not wider. OE specs are 225/50/17. If you wanted a wider tire you should have opted for 235/45/17. By running those Nexen's you have already mounted, you'll just be adding more miles on your vehicle than necessary. It's only an increase of about <5% of the normal amount of rotations per mile that the odometer and speedometer were calibrated for, but it is nonetheless an unnecessary increase. Whoever purchases those wheels will also probably unknowingly change their oil too frequently over the course of the life of the tires. For practical purposes, if the owner of the vehicle follows the factory recommended OCI of 3750 miles, their odometer will read nearly 135 miles more than that figure. If the tires have an average life of 30K miles, their odometer will have added over 1000 additional miles simply due to the change in OD during that 30K time period.

I really have no idea where that second comment about my background came from. What you stated was incorrect...so I simply corrected you with knowledge that pretty much any 5th gen SE owner would know.

Despite the appearance, I really wasn't intending on dumping on your post.

yeh...we'll thanks for the information that everybody already knew then?

Even another guy asked "225/45/zr17 fit these wheels"

I dont see why you needed to do all that math? I could of told you that the miles would of been less due to the lowered tire..come on bro not brain surgery your doing.

I didnt realize the stock tires were 225 MY MISTAKE.

Oh and Dont worry you didnt dump my post by saying "wrong size tires." lol again thanks for the info. I'm sure it helped everyone who knew that already.

Lets face it anyone going with bigger wheels or tires or vise versa ARE changing the OEM numbers as far as miles and odometer is concerned. I'm sure half of the wheels and tires sold on here are going to do that. Take care and thanks again....no need to post here again you can PM me with anything else you want to tell me about the car or relative to the actual sale.
