Whenever I use my impact with a 21mm deep socket to remove my lugnuts, the shaft of the lugnut gets beat and battered from the rotation and vibration of the impact gun and socket.

Is there a special method or tool for this kind of application?

I tried...
wrapping the socket with a towel but the shaft was just too snug for it
various settings

Any ideas, suggestions, opinions?

Are you kidding me? They do make these things called lug wrenches. Either your socket is worn out causing excess damage or you don't know how to hold the gun. IMO

 

The wrench in the back of my car sitting next to the jack works wonders for me.

If the gun is giving you problems bro, just use a wrench to break the lugs free before using the gun. It's more work but it solves your problem.

 

If I cant crack the nut i get a four way and that long pole from behind the firewall. I slide the pole onto the four way and give it an ever so gentle nudge and the nut usually moves under that kind or leverage. As a matter of fact I use the same method for any frozen nuts of bolts I encounter when taking apart a third gen.

 

 

this sucks ? kick whoever put it on so tight in the rear end!

 

lift some weights and use the stock lug wrench and dont be lazy

 

Use some anti-seize when you get them off. Then, use a torque wrench to ensure the lugs are tightened evenly.
