Reprogram pioneer remote for headunit

I got a new pioneer headunit installed a few days ago. I was upgraded for free to a open box unit they had and it didn't have a manual with it. I was also given a remote. Now I would normally look at the manual on pioneers website, but it requires me to register. I get a 404 every time I try to register, so now I have brought my question here. Is there a special process for my headunit to recognize the remote? I can't find any info on how to do this. Please help. Its the DEH-P4900.

no theres not, most pioneer remotes should just work. No programming is required. Perhaps the battery is dead ? If the remote you got doesnt work you will have to buy one for that model headunit.
