well -- hmmmm --- ok
A mechanic here where i live once quoted me $50 (can) dollars to change 6 plugs in my 97, i got mad cause i thought that was a high price so i changed them myself. its like SUPER easy on the 4th gens...

Usually the more bolts and stuff the mech has to remove the more the price, and for six plugs its about 8-10 dollars each to replace them, thats what i think the mech was thinking

I would say their worth/value = a trip to the 4th gen stickys.

I feel getting this job done alone would only make it very easy for you to get ripped off. This job in most cases is such an easy tasks, its much more cost effective to just do it yourself, or even pay an org member $20 to do it for you.

If you need sparks changed, and your going to have a shop do it, might as well couple it with other work to try and get the most for your money.

I did it on my 3.0 a few days ago, it took 30mins ( or about 6 songs off the Kweli album).

IMHO if you have to consider someone else changing your spak plugs, you shouldn't work on your own car. In fact you shouldn't be allowed to even own tools. It is one of the easiest maintenance items that any DIY person can do. It ranks right up there with changing the air filter and checking the air in the tires.

True but irrelevant in this case. Even then, it's not that bad/

you can do it, its easier than you might think. There is a write up in the 4th gen stickies also, its very helpful.

but its basically just taking off the cover (allen keys), unplug the coils, un bolt them (8mm), and use a long extension with a spark plug socket, a magnet on an extension will be a lifesaver for getting the sparks out. the rears are harder only due to space restrictions, but take your time and try not to get frustrated.

post up if you need extra help/advice, we'll help out.

Got anything cool for sale, like in the 20$ region? I'd be glad to front you the privileges for exchange of a cool part.

its even easier with the 3.5. The manifold come off in 4-5 bolts. you'll spend more time trying to get to one of the rear coil packs on a 3.0 that taking off the whole IM for a 3.5 then everything is easily accessible in seconds

Keep in mind the A33B has TBW, and a different VIAS configuration (vacuum and electric connections) So it is a tad harder than just a few bolts (Can't forge tthe elbow bolts to the chassis)

VIAS a couple tubes, the EVAP sensor, unplug the maf and take the whole intake and filter with it too.

I still say its easier and quicker on to change sparks on a 3.5 than a 3.0. You have both, which one would you rather change the sparks on?

One thing to always remember, change the plugs on a cold engine. The heads are aluminum and expand a few thousands with heat. It is easy to strip the threads and that is something you won't want to do.

I'm going to be changing my plugs soon, just wondering what plugs do people think are the best, and where do you buy them?
thanks.

On a Max, NGK seem to be the best. As for where to get them, that up to prices/sales around your city
