As everyone probably knows by now, the 2k2 Altima will be
sporting a Skyline-derived suspension, while the 2k2 Max
will be keeping its solid beam rear axle (Very disappointed
that Nissan refused to give the upgraded 2k2 Max an IRS!)

If Nissan had offered HLSD as an option for the 2k2 Altima,
I would definitely go for the Altima. Instead, Nissan
decided to have it only available for the 6spd Max!

I believe that the 2k2 Alt should be able to outhandle and
outcorner the 2k2 Max on the twisties, BUT

Will an HLSD-equipped equipped 2k2 6spd Max even come close
to the 2k2 Altima's handling and agility around the curves?

For a pure racing application a rear beam suspension works very well. If I am not mistaken the new max should be able to out handle the Altima through the slolam and skid pad. Take a 95 SE maxima for example, it did 65.6 MPH through MT 600 FT Slolam! This # is very, very good for any car let alone a sedan.

Independent rear suspension is nice for every day driving and is much easier to drive aggresively over bumpy cornors.
