Gaskets In, Cattman SS installed, Here's what I think for now
Sound on the car, Slight change in tone at Idle and about 1000-2500rpm, At cruse speed it sounds stock.
Slight Smoke comeing from the Exaust, Think the moisture in the lines is burning off, 40 degrees outside may have something to do with it.
Constant rattle sound, kinda like a toyota V6 engine comeing from pipe.
Gains in speed through 4000-6000+rpm.
Took me about an hour to install it. Would've been less but the rusty *** nuts on the Cat gave me hell to come off.
Overall, Give me time to see how I like it. Will double check all nuts tomorrow, give the car a day to get used to the new pipe and then go back and tighten the bolts.
U guys with the pipe, what U think so far?

Just did the SS Catman on my '97. I've got a small exhaust leak between the Y and my Cat
Bit of a humm/buzz with any throttle.
Seems I've got GOBS of torque now. Even at 1,500+ I'm pulling better. 3rd gear turns and 2nd gear starts much easier.
Just some re-work, b-pipe, and ECU to finish the performance mods

I had the same prob with the cat nuts! They are ON THERE! I almost stripped one in getting it off.
I also had a little smoke as you did. This will go away.
All in all, Im very happy with the Y-Pipe. The "bees in a can" as some call it, doesnt bother me. But, I can see how it could be taken for an exhaust leak, especially if you are driving next to a wall, etc, where the sound is amplified.
I dont have the rattle at idle that you have though. Have you looked under the car to see where it might be hitting?

This is awsome......
you know guys.... this is better than an "AA" meeting... I have been wondering for months if I had done a fu--d up job of installing my Y-pipe... cuz I had that damn "bees in a can" sound... I thought that I had a leak for the longest time... but I guess thats normal... now all I got to do is shave off that bracket on the bottoma to stop the Y-pipe from hitting the bottom of my car.... damn that is annoying... specially when I am showing off and then....tak..tak..tak..tak.. uhhhhhhhhh!!!
anyways ... Thanks guys for participating ... it really helps...

this is what I think now after driveing the car, Small rattle in the pipe at high throttle in 1st and 2nd gear, almost sounds like something is loose. To be honest the exaust sounds like something is blown down there and there are no leaks.
The Smoke is gone. car is running a lot smoother, on the hwy can't tell from 3rd to 5th. B4 at 70mph I was at 3100RPM now its about 2800RPM.
As far as hangers, I wonder about that, gotta have some kinda support down there. Factory pipe was hung in 2 places. one on the Metal bracket and one on the rubber hanger by the Cat this pipe has no hangers. U Guys sure thats safe to let the cat hang like that?

hangers (kinda long...)
Almost right. I have a CA/NLEV version and I assume that coolmaxx has one too. The Fed version does not have the bracket causing the problem which is why madmax2k did not have the problem. The following is my installation instructions. It may not be clear because I'm not the best when it comes to giving precise and clear instructions but you should get the gist of what I'm trying to convey or at least I hope so.
Now, if u look under the car you'll see two bolts on the cat towards the front of the cat, one on either side (left and right). Let's call these LCB & RCB. These are used along with the two bolts towards the rear of the cat to hold the heat shield to the cat. Now, If you look on the underbody of the car, almost in line with the two front cat bolts (LCB & RCB), you'll also see two bolts used to hold a heat shield to the car itself, one bolt on either side of the car (call these LUB & RUB). These two bolts are adjacent to the two front bolts on the cat so I chose to use them. Well, what I did was to buy:
1) two steel hooks from home Depot with a hole at one end (so that I can bolt it somewhere).
2) Two 1/4" diameter 3" long bolts with nuts and washers.
3) two exhaust hangers from Pep boys (You can get these anywhere)
4) two pieces of metal about 3.5 - 4" long. this metal should be fairly strong. Each piece should also have two holes, one at either end. I bent each of them into a kind of "V" shape (or a lean "L"). It's "V" shaped because it will be bolted to the LCB and RCB locations which is vertical and the other end will be used to bolt the hanger and that bolt will be horizontal.
Once that was done, I removed LUB, RUB, LCB, RCB. Then I slid one rubber hanger unto one of the hooks then bolted the hook to the car underbody using RUB. Then I took one of the "V" metal pieces and bolted one end using RCB. So what we have now is the hanger hanging off of the hook. So I take one of the bolts and insert it through the bottom hole of the hanger and through the hole of the "V" shaped piece of metal and bolted it (remember to use the washers so it's tight). Repeat for the other side.
Hope you can understand it or at least get an idea from it. I know it doesn't feel good to hear "clunk" when u gun the max.
Peace...
