well, me and my friend were driving to pick up my other friend to go see American Pie 2, and of course im late. so im driving kinda fast on this street (marked 45 mph). so im at this stop sign and i see this car pull out from a stop sign 50 ft behind me, and im thinking to myself, "nitin, what are the chances thats a cop?". so i gun it and im driving at least 70 on this straight road and as i drive up this hill theres another car in front of me so im forced to drive the regular speed limit. then i look in my rear view mirror and i see the headlights, no mistaken...it was definitely a cop (a crown victoria). and im getting really nervous. i make a right turn and he follows me, and i know at this point hes checking my plates. so i turn off my neons and turn left into my friends development and thats when the cop turns his lights on and pulls me over. im thinking to myself, "oh my god, i was over 30 mph above the speed limit, i wont see my license for a while."
so the cop walks to my window and says, "Wheres the fire at??" I quickly apologize and say im picking my friend up from a house like 10 feet away. My friend was even watching in his driveway. anyways, he asks my registration and everything and im shaking so bad and stuttering because this is the first time ive ever been pulled over. the cops is saying, "you must of been going about 75 because i had to punch it to keep up with u, how fast were you going?" i replied, "i couldnt have been going faster than 60." then hes asking whos car this is and if im making payments on it. and he says "i dont want to see u driving fast on these roads especially in foggy conditions like this, im only going to give a verbal warning this time. i dont want to have your car taken away or anything bad happening to anyone. you wont have a sencond chance. drive smart, i know these cars are fast."

then he left, i almost p***ed my pants. needless to say, i drove the speed limit the rest of the night. i swear, i was sooo lucky that night. the cop never actually saw how fast i was going. because after i pulled out from the stop sign, the road bends and then goes staight. and i was really far ahead by the time he made it past the bend.

Wow..your pretty lucky man. But they can't give you a ticket for speeding if they didn't catch your speed using a radar/laser gun right? Because they need proof you were speeding.

I got pulled over on my prom night..but just got a warning..and it wasn't for speeding either. It was for not yeilding to a right turn lane.

Your name is 'Nitin'? Cool..my cousin has the same name.

When I was 16 I did the SAME THING. I saw a car in my rearview pull onto my road and I thought, "No way it's a cop," and I floored it. It was my parents' Saab 900 Turbo. I got it up to 90 before the turn came. The cop caught up about a mile later.

I had just made a quick trip out to pick up my little brother, and had forgotten to take my wallet with me. I'd never seen the registration or insurance, so didn't know how to find that for him.

He took me home to my parents. No tickets, just no Saab for about 6 months.

My parents told me I'd have to spend a weekend in a soup kitchen to pay back the community I jeopardized, but I never got around to it. I haven't driven like that since that day.

Man you are lucky. I think shaking and quaking works to your advantage. I've done that before, not voluntarily. I would take his advice and use that one warning.

actually a cop can pull you over with out using the radar, he can pace you meaning following behind you and estimate your speed by using his own speed. how do i know this? i got pulled over by a cop when he was pacing me.

I remember my Driver's Ed teacher saying they had to pace you for a minimum of 0.3 miles.

Just to let you know, a cop doesn't need a radar gun, nor does he has to pace you 0.3 miles to get you for speeding. In the state of florida, just about every cop is radar certified, which means you take a class for a month and you learn all about radar ( you cannot operate a radar without being certified). But part of the training is you go out to several different locations and you have to determine how fast the car is going just by looking and be within 5 mph +/-, you must do this 40 times at each location, during the day and at night. The radar gun is basically a back up to what the cop already knows (that you are speeding)

Is that a state practice, or will you find it nationally?

It has made a lasting impression. I can tell, you can not even spell and you have lost all comprehension of grammar and punctuation.

Mike

thanks...but u dont have to be a ****. everyone has their own style. and anyways, i think im a pretty good speller and i have good use of punctuation. notice my quoted sentences, ellipses, and parenthesis, i think they are pretty well done.

someone told me that only state troopers could follow u to get a speed estimate, i dont know if thats true or not though. every state has their own regulations...i live in PA.

No, any cop can pace you and any cop can pull you over for any little bull$hit thing. There is a cop around town who has it in for me and he tails me when i leave work sometimes, he's a ****. If i cop is behind you and estimates your speed ANY cop can pull you over for speeding. COPS ARE EVIL!!

In Georgia there is no set pacing distance in the Code Section. Still I like to have at least 2/10ths of a mile before stopping a car.

The cop haters always tickle me when they reply to these kind of posts.

We have a job to do. If your speeding or driving like a maniac you deserve to be stopped. I think some ppl just get mad that they have been caught and can't admit to themselves that they were in the wrong.

Its called denial.

We have all been guilty at some point or another so lighten up, or in some cases wake up and smell the burning rubber.
