Hi, Everyone.

I just moved to Las Vegas from San Francisco, and I gave my Maxima a much-needed wash for the first time here. Boy, does the Las Vegas water suck!! It's hard water and leaves these terribly horrific water stains on the car if I allow the water to dry off by itself. This never happened back in San Francisco, so now I've added that to my mental list of things to be homesick for in the City By The Bay.

I also found out that it's actually illegal to wash your own car in Las Vegas. No wonder I see so many car wash places around. But no way am I gonna let someone else wash my car. I see other neighbors doing it themselves, so until some government offical tells me to stop, I'm going to keep doing it. (I keep remembering the line in "Aliens" when Ripley wants to nuke the colony from orbit, Burke tells her to reconsider since the installation has a substantial dollar value, and she tells him: "They can bill me." )

By the way, it's damn hot here in Las Vegas. I think I'm going to spontaneously combust at any moment. Send help immediately!

Time to get a California Water Blade and dry off your car using that and a towel. I'm from SF and wash my car in San Francisco all the time. If I let it dry, it spots a little, so I water blade it, and towel dry it each time now. Only takes ten minutes extra and it makes all the difference.

The California Water Blade is this purple squeegee thing that wipes off water very very well. I purchased mine from Costco about two years ago.

Yup, hard water sucks. The neighbor's sprinklers always spray my minivan leaving it coated with spots.

It's time to hit up the casinos...you're in Vegas baby!

Why did you move out there anyway?

I agree, with two people washing it takes 3 min with mitts. To dry it takes about 5 min with the water blade then minor touchups with the absorber after. So in about 10 min, I can wash the car (with 2 people). The water blade is great.

U should go to the Las Vegas Hilton's parking lot, top floor, and take pix of ur car there, u can get ur car with the whole LV strip in it. Plus the lot is always only half full at the most and the top floor is always empty. Looks real nice, especially at night, we've done it with our rental cars.

We've never taken our own car to Vegas..too scared the heat would screw up the car, LV is a friggin oven!

If you wanna talk about illegal cleaning...

Every week when I wash my car (I live in apartments) I park my car in the middle of our parking lot, theres about 10 which fit maybe 40 cars each) and I hook up a long a$$ hose to the washer and run the hose outside. It's funny, the neighbors get mad and the superintendant has yelled at me on numerous occasions. So I guess until my folks buy a house I'll be doing this

Better be careful to not anger your neighbors too much or you might find new scratches/dents on your Max that you didn't know you had the night before. Just a word of advice.

My girlfriend wanted a fresh start away from San Francisco, so I decided to join her. We both have a nice house here now which was nice and inexpensive. But living in San Francisco most of my life, it's been very difficult for me to adjust to the heat here. I don't think I'll really ever adjust, but I'll try. But if I ever do spontaneously combust, I'm doing it in my Maxima!!

That sounds like an idea for a new title. "Will combust in Maxima."

Thanks for the well wishes.

Acutally if I ever do spontaneously combust in my Maxima, I want my tombstone to include:

"The 2001 Nissan Maxima SE. So hot, it literally burned this driver away. Cars like it: 0"

A Maxima commercial right at a gravesite! Heehee.

You don't mean LV do you? There's no ocean anywhere near there.

Kenny: Maxima ad on your tombstone, you're hardcore!
