Water droplets from sunroof -- is it normal?
Water droplets from sunroof -- is it normal?
Hi,
I am a new owner of an used 2014 Maxima S. Yesterday when I took the car to a high pressure "laser" car wash, I noticed that when pressurized water passes the sunroof, the sunroof appears to move down a bit and there are water droplets appearing around the glass inside the car.
Later on I tried to "water" my car using garden hose for ~10min and also see small drops appearing.
I am guessing such drops would eventually got drained from the car even if they sip in between the glass and the top, but not sure whether it would be normal for this to happen so easily (never owned a car with sunroof before)
Any comments/suggestions? I can take a picture next time I do the "artificial rain" if that would help diagnose this.
Thanks for your help!!!

Is it the water that's being sprayed on the glass getting past the seal or is it the condensation from the temperature change? I recently had to have my sunroof re-programmed because my roof wasn't closing all the way.
Fore warning: the dealer in California didn't have a clue about re-programming the sunroof and was about to perform a $6000 warranty job on my car.
When I returned to Kansas they did the sunroof re-learn procedure and everything is good.

There should be no water what so ever entering the vehicle. Do you have the premium model with the panoramic roof or the normal sunroof? The normal sunroof has been around a long time and is a proven trouble-free design. The pano roof I'm not too sure about.
Thanks for your answers and suggestions! I just did another try of watering my Maxima. Several drops appears again (as in the pictures) I think it is not due to condensation though.
This is far from severe I guess but if no water should appear, they would still look suspicious.
Oh, and the sunroof is a normal one, not the fancy panorama type.
Any more suggestion would be much appreciated, or maybe it's time to visit the dealer?

I have the Pano roof and that should not happen. IF you have Pano roof they will most likely have to replace the whole roof, I had a clip break and water was leaking through, sadly during the removal of the roof one of the techs broke a piece off so a 2 day job turned into 2 weeks. So if you have someone fix it make sure they are EXTREMELY careful with ALL parts lol. There are several parts on the Pano roof that are hard to get. If you have the normal sunroof that still should not happen=).
