You guys have the Varad LED scanner. How'd you hook it up? I know ToyLet did it himself, how about you Kev? And I know RBa didn't do it himself though.

I want mine to be only on when my alarm is on. Black wire is ground (obviously). But where do the yellow and red wires go to?

I just want to know where to run the wires to even though I have a 4th gen.

if you hook up the black and yellow wire together the scanner will work.. if you leave the yellow wire alone nothing will happen. so im guessing hook up the back and yellow to the alarm, or the red light thats factory?

Black and yellow to what?

You know what? I guess I'll see what you did tomorrow when you come over.

I did the wiring myself.

3 wires... red, black, and yellow (?):
red = positive
black = ground
yellow = security (power from factory LED)

I'm not sure what wires are involved in 4th gens (haven't done Jane's Varad scanner yet), but I'm pretty sure it's similar to the 5th gens.

There should be a bunch of wires connected to the clock. When you disconnect the harness, you'll see descriptions like power(?), ground, security, clock, etc. Tap into the ones I listed above.

Good luck.

Well... on the 4th gen, the security LED is nowhere near the clock. And IIRC, when I pulled the secruity LED out, there were only two wire connected to it.

So I guess the red is to an always on power source (gotta find one), the yellow connects to the power that's connected to the security LED and ground is ground.

Ok ... gotta go wiring hunting tomorrow.

Hmmmm...... then my guess is as good as yours. Find the security LED wire and you're home free. Good luck.
