go to www.apline1.com and check out the CVA-1006. its a flip-out motorized monitor. it only takes up 1 din spot. its a monitor and an am/fm radio also, its a multimedia center so you can hook up a DVD player, navigation, video games, VCR, CD changer, and subwoofer.

i have a 5.6" lcd and it fits good, although a bit small... i think the optimal size is a 6.4" widescreen... that would be awesome, but expensive. you can also fit a regular 6.4". best place to look is ebay. great deals.

btw - check the link in my sig for pics and info on my install.

I've been checking out the Navigation systems and I've pretty much decided on the Alpine unit. They also were at Maxus and the Alpine system was *sweet*!

Maxima's use 2DIN size. That means you can put 2 1DIN size units in there. The Alpine monitor is 1DIN, so, you can put that on the top and put something else below it like EQ, CD or something else. I would use this setup as you probably want the monitor as high as possible.

Just be aware that when the monitor is up (not tucked away inside the unit) it will block your air controls. Not too bad though.

You can find deals on Ebay. I really want a Nav system but the price is pretty high for the DVD Nav unit. I might wait a little until I can find a sweet deal.

2 Din Choices

There are 2 choices that no one has mentioned yet. THe Eclipse @din Unit and the Clarion 2 din. The Clarion is dicont'd I think but you can find it at www.Autotoys.com , By the way just to let you know the Apline DVA (dvd player dosent play CDR's. So I went with the IVAC-800 and the DVA 5205 on Ebay I got both Shipped to me for 2180. Both Brand New. GO on to ebay and look for the Eclipse and Clarion Units. the eclipse is 7003 and the Clarion is max2205 (Ithink) Both will fit into the Double din fitting and both have a 5.8 screen with CD/Tape. When I get the money I am gonna put the NVE DVD navi by Alpine in the POP out tray location and add a CD Changer.

Nope, thats why I went with the IVA/DVA combo so I can play CDR's in the IVA.

Losing sight?

You gentlemen need to expand your thoughts about mobile video. YOu ask what do you do about tunes? Do like me and put a pc in your car! Screw a 1000 din sized dvd player when you can have a 1000$ or less din sized PC! Anyway, just a thought, check out what i did for my intrepid, this is phase 1 though, phase 2 will come with a new car, either a maxima or a4/s4.. http://carpc.signalcreations.com

enjoy,
