After buying some ramps, laying underneath the car for a good 20-30min, and my fiance reving the motor, I found the exhaust leak. It is coming from where the y-pipe connects to the rear manifold. Any suggestions on what I can do to try and stop the leak. Thank You.

how did you know to check for the leak? Was your exhaust noisy? You did replace the gaskets when installing the y-pipe right?

There was a sound coming from under the car, not a hissing noise, more like a ticking fluttering noise, it's kind of hard to explain in words. I had the stillen flex pipe removed and replaced with a stainless steel interlined flex pipe and the noise was still there. I watched my mechanic put the pipe it on from start to finish and he used all the new gaskets supplied with pipe. I took it back to him on 3 seperate occasions to check for leaks and he said he he could find none. But when you are in a shop with other noises going on and fans blowing and the car running it is kind of hard to hear or feel a leak. It is quiet were I live so I decided to o some investigating myself.

Have you tried replacing gaskets yet? Maybe if you just loosen the front bolts (take the bind off the pipe) and then simultaniously tighten the front/back.....

Just trying to help

If you replaced the gaskets, replace them again. I would probably just make my own gaskets. You can buy a sheet of gasket like paper from a major auto-parts store. If the gasket is too thin, either get a thicker one or double up on it and make sure the gasket is crushed and tight when you bolt the Y-pipe and manifold pipe together.

Thanks guy's for all the suggestions. Last night when I got home from work I put the car back on the ramps and went to looking and try to tighten. I was at a different angle last night, I was looking and feeling around the rear manifold connection......guess what I saw. I saw the rear gasket sticking out between the y-pipe and the manifold connection. I was excited but yet was very angry. I paid $85.00 to have this thing put on buy a professional and this is what I get. I will be at his shop first thing in the morning. I am glad that it is a problem that can easily be fixed. Now all I have to do is gets some gaskets. Thanks again for the suggestions.
