Supposedly, they attract whatever contaminants swimming in the oil (metallic of course). It replaces the stock oil drain plug. Anyone ever heard of these or tried them out? Would this help the car or is it just another scheme? TIA.

Some of my cars came with standard magnetic oil plugs, so I assume its a useful device. Marine outdrives use magnetic oil plugs all the time, where they are especially useful because of the lack of an outdrive lubrication filter. I wouldnt spend $50 for one, but for a cheap price it cant hurt you.

Well, I can get one for $8.95, so I guess I can try it out. I'm worried about leaks and stuff. I guess I'll find out the hard way. This is what I was looking at: http://www.ipdusa.com/Items.cfm?CategoryID=167
Thanks.
