Best Year 4th Gen To Get?

Hi, I'm new to this site and I was just wondering what would the best year of 4th generation Maxima's to get. I was originally thinking that the 1995 S.E. Limited 5speed would be the best and rarest model to get in the 4th gen line up.
Also, I was wondering if there were any superchrgers available for the 4th gen V6. I was thinking the SC from the new frontiers but went to the factory and it turns out that one wouldn't fit so that was kinda a downer. Maybe Jackson Racing makes one? I don;t know like I said earlier I'm new to this site and the Maxima enthusiasm. But I love these cars, I used to like HonDUH's but I sold mine and I got a beater for now because I'm saving up for my Maxima this summer. but anyways I just had these couple of questions maybe some of you could answer for me...peace. The main differences between the model years for 4th gen:
95 - first year, emissions equipment similar to 3rd gen
96 - OBDII emissions, revised cupholder
97 - facelifted front and rear, new bumpers, upgraded crash protection, new wheels, revised dash
98 - red needles on dash across the line, digital odo/tripmeter
99 - SE limited edition available, emissions equipment similar to 2k Maxima

As of right now, the only widely available blower for the VQ engine (4th and 5th gen Maximas) is from Stillen, and it's quite pricey at $3k-$4k. Rumor has it Jim Wolf Technology (?) *might* be giving us another option right 'round the corner.
The 1997s seem to be the most trouble-free, although all 4th gens have proven to be extremely reliable. Be warned 5-speeds are in high demand and therefore might be difficult to find. For that model year, expect to pay anywhere from $9,000 to $14,000 depending on options, mileage, and where you live.
BTW, welcome to the org!

Have another question, any1 ever thought of doing a custom job by putting a frontier SC on a maxima?...any1 ever tried this? lets see...peace

who told you the 99 has 185 hp? it has 190..
anyway best year to get 97
why?
97 - 99 maxima's look better and have the re-inforced bumpers... so 97's look like 98 and 99's
97 is cheaper than the other 2
97 alows you to use a 95 or 96 ECU for upgradability (can't do that with 98 or 99)
what does that mean.. say you wanted to run an SC or a Turbo and you got bigger injectors and other stuff.. you will have to get your ECU reprogrammed... can't do that for the 98 or 99..
97 doesn't have digital ODO..
97 is faster than the 99
97 white is 10 times better looking than the 99 white.

ALL 4th gen Maximas have a VQ: 3.0L DOHC V-6 producing 190HP@4000 and 205 TQ@5600. The '99 however has the most emmisions controls, making it the slowest 'bang for the buck', but not by much at all. 0-60 for the 5 speed? 6.6-7.0 seconds, 1/4 in 14.7-15.1 seconds.
1995
Go with a '95. The cheepest priced ones you will find, and extremely reliable. Theres 2 in my family weve had one since '94 and its been great.
Also the '95's are the lightest, and have the least speed emissions.

The newest model year you can get and still use an ECU. Sprint, I don't think you can put an ECU in a '97, can you? I know you physiclly can but the gains are minimal compared to a '95/'96 and the check engine light stays on. Correct me if I am wrong. So yeah, get a '96. Affordable, you can get an ECU, you can get Altezzas (o.k., o.k., I don't want to hear it), and you can always add the '97/'99 look if you'd like. However, that digital odo and homelink visor are pretty darn nice. Conclusion: you can't go wrong with any! Good luck. And welcome.
Oh, and stillin.com

don't get a 95 or 96 if you are looking for saftey.. the bumpers crumple like nothing and they trip the air bags easily.. so for a 20 - 30 mph crash.. you are looking at air bags deployed and your car being totalled.. that and the 97 front end looks better
I know i tottaled my 95 over a BS Crash.. all that was damaged was the radiator.. and i got screwed because the airbags were deployed

I have a 97 SE 5 Speed and love it. I have no complaints with the 97, However the cup holders are really bad! Can not even fit a 20oz. anything in them!! The only thing that I can think of that bugs me (but happens to most Maxima's) is the noise on the fan and setting 1 or 2. If you can do it, try to get as new as possible, but the 97 is great!

You mean c-h-e-a-p-e-s-t. Misspelling things makes you seem like an idiot. Also, what are "speed emissions"?
