I am in process of buying an '01 Maxima SE, 5-speed only to discover it does not have a cigarette lighter. I do not smoke, but have items (radar detector, cell phone, etc) that need a cigarette lighter for power. Does Nissan sell a conversion to get one?

It doesn't come with the thingy that lights up cigarettes, but the outlet is there. Check this out (it says Power Outlet):

So all the "01" Maximas will have this 12 Volt DC power point? Where would I find it?

Look on Kev's pic. This is a very standard feature on all autos, usually in the center console. In fact, the Max comes with one for the rear passengers as well. We have 2.

Where is the one for the rear? I just bought my car and never noticed it either?

The outlet is in the rear of the console. From the back seat it is easy to spot.

even on 02s, fornt is to the left of the coin box (or ashtray with smoker's kit) and on back behind center console on a flip door. All should have it stick or auto. Didn't the dealer tell you guys these things? geez,
