Those that re-wired fog lamps for parking lights - question
Those that re-wired fog lamps to come on with parking lamps - question
Looking to re-wire the foggies to come on with the parking lights. Looked over the instructions a few people have come up with and they're all the same. Cut the yellow wire off the relay, run it into the red wire of the parking lights.
Here's my question - the yellow wire on the relay. Is this used to send 12V+ to the fogs, or is this tripping the relay? I'm concerned if we are sending 12V+ to the fogs this way as if this is the case, we could cause some serious damage and be overloading the parking lamp circuit and/or the multifunction switch.
If it's just to trip a relay, I have no problem with that. I haven't gone out yet with the multimeter to start probing the relay, but wanted to see if anyone knew this info.

Nothing to worry about there.

By cutting the yellow wire and supplying +12v from the parking lights, you bypass the headlamp relay (let is used to have the foglamps work only when the haedlamps are on. And yes, the power from the parking lamps only energize the fog lamp relay.
Fantastic - thanks. Oh, and about high-beams. . .
Thanks for the info guys. I got a hold of the electrical schematics and saw what it was you were doing - looks good.
Oh, and for those of you that wanted the foggies with the high beams and couldn't figure out why they were cutting out. . . The multi-function switch with the headlights on and fog switch on supplies 12+V. IF you hit the high-beams, the MF switch cuts out the GROUND to the fog lights, thus no matter what you do to the relay, you'll never get them on. Need to get around that ground if you want them on (I'm not that interested, so I don't plan on doing anything about it, but FYI. . .)
