I think Maaco has these $399 specials or even lower for a paint job. I recently posted a thread asking Org members about the cost for a good paint job and the feedback I got was at least $2k. That's a big difference and if it's any indication of Maaco quality, don't go there.

Just wanted to drop my 2 cents and agree with Terrance. Maaco is awful. I had a crappy car painted there in High school and the guy working there told me that it should last "a good two years". On most jobs they don't even use a clear coat. Stay Away!

Cary, my name's spelled with all "E"s as in Terrence. Don't worry, it's a common mistake. I picked on Keving too when he used to spell it with an "a". Take care.

Terrence

To stay on topic...Yeah, stay away from Maaco.

Some company called Zaino makes a clay bar that is supposed to work wonders on scratches and chips. Not sure how it works or how much it costs or even who the company is.

check sig.

Maaco paint job. $400, including a replaced fender. Only had one problem where it ran (under door handle, understandable, but they were gonna fix it).

Reasons why to get painted at Maaco:
1. don't plan on keeping the car long
2. don't plan on keeping the car looking nice for long
3. short of funds
4. recently got in an accident and short of funds

Otherwise, take it somewhere more professional. Places that take your car for a week and a half and strip the paint, then repaint it for $800+.

Do not ever go to Maaco. Ever. If the performance of the Maaco I went to is any indication the entire chain should be shut down. They repainted my front bumper in an obviously off color and after weeks of arguing still wouldn't try to fix it. What's worse, I had the bumper cover off one weekend and noticed that they apparently used a kleenex to mask the area being painted. There's beige paint everywhere around the front structure of the car. Your money is better spend elsewhere.

am i the only one who had any kind of satisfactory service with Maaco?

They definitely oversprayed in several areas (front grill), but, overall, I loved the paintjob...
