I was driving along sunday afternoon and I saw something funny. As this boxy coupe integra coming down the street he had a GT-R emblem in place of the where the Acura badge was. Some dude with a rice rocket. That's just a disgrace and a humilation to the Skyline. Feel sorry for the dumb a$$ driving around with it. I felt like pulling him over and riping that emblem off of his car. Some ppl are duh!

There was a picture from the 2001 NOPI Nationals with an Integra that has a Skyline bodykit. Looks like Acura Integra owners are Nissan fans too, they just can't afford one.

As long as it's within the family, I'll over look that.

eep, we're gonna start another war here... =\

i kinda have a thing against badging too

would you put a AMD thunderbird badge on your computer, even though you have a AMD duron?

would you call your overclocked video card, ie: geforce 2 mx, a geforce 2 ultra?

would you call your complete sony bundle entertainment system THX-ULTRA certified?

would you call your maxima an AE version b/c you have the sills?

i feel that incorrect badging is like counterfeiting.

noone beat me up please, thanks in advance

Totally agree with you!

Even putting AE product on a non-AE is plain incorrect.

What's wrong with putting AE stuff on a non-AE? They're still Maxima-specific products. They fit and look perfect on non-AE 5th-gen Maximas. I can sort of agree with you about the mis-labelling, but you went too far.

Well sometimes there are legit reasons for improper badging.

Waaaaaay back in 1996 I bought a Quantex Pentium-Pro 200 (remember those?) and it was my college computer. As the years progressed it got a bit weak as I loaded Win2k and some rather serious software on it. My parents just happened to get another Quantex with the same exact case design on it and it was a Pentium-II 400.

Now, all my parents do is get online and check stocks and email, so you don't really need a PII-400 for that. Meanwhile I was trying to run some NEC antenna simulations on a PPro-200 - ack!! Well, my dad was cool with me "swapping" computers since I was broke as hell (like most college students are) and he didn't mind me switching, but my mom was the obstacle and she'd have a cow if she found out about it.

So what I did was I gave them my PPro-200 but then took the nice "Intel Pentium-II Inside" sticker off of their new one and "riced out" my PPro-200 and put that PII sticker right on it!!! Then I swapped out all of the internals from my PPro box since it was "heavily modded" and put it in my new PII box, and then put their rather low-end (DX-ish) level equipment in my old / their new PPro

I was shocked as hell when Win2k handled the entire mobo/internal swap fine without a problem and my mom booted up the next day and never even noticed the difference!!!

Uhhh...that was like 2 years ago or so and they've still got my old PPro "riced out" and rebadged as a PII and my mom still hasn't noticed

And I've still got their PII-400. I don't do anything serious with it anymore since I graduated, but I'm too lazy to switch back like I should, and plus my dad doesn't care (only checks stocks / email) and I'm too lazy to do it anyways. And plus my mom never found out so who cares??

muhahahaa

So rebadging does have its uses in the proper situations ;-D

===========

uuuhh...just to keep this on topic, rebadging cars like this "GT-R on an Acura" is rather lame if you ask me. Rebadging to a higher level is even lamer. Like a TL/CL putting the Type-S badge on their cars, or a Mustang V6 putting GT badges on their car.

I do sorta like the idea of rebadging to "lower" power levels because you can turn your car into a sleeper that way, which is pretty cool. Like a Type-S Acura rebadged to the TL/CL non-Type-S, or an Accord V6 with the V6 removed and replaced with an LX or EX or something... But the dual exhaust, wider tires, and lug patterns gives away the V6 anyways so it's not a popular badging option ;-)

i dont see a problem with 5th gens using AE products
but if you are making fun of other cars using the gtr badge, then i think maxima's that use it are just as dumb, if not worse, unless they actually have the performance to back it up

thats what I meant! there is nothing wrong with putting AE parts on a Max, but putting on SE lights, lower it with wheels on a GXE and call it a SE or AE is just plain wrong.

Same goes for GT-R Maxima.

I saw an Audi the other day with a GT-R badge and just about $h!t my pants I was laughing so hard. Anyways, I later told my friend, who drives a really nice Audi 90, about the GT-R badge on the Audi. He laughed and said, who in the right mind would put a Nissan badge on a much better Audi. That is when he found out what a Skyline GT-R was. He had never heard of the Skyline, which I am guessing the case was with the guy who put this GT-R badge on his Audi. I bet most the time ppl who put GT-R badges on non-nissan cars don't know what the GT-R really stands for.

I think u can put gtr on ur max if u got a s/c or 100shots NOS or fast enough to be called a GT-R.

or u can just slap it on cause u want it on. either way watever make u happy as long as its in the same family.

type R maxima ?

Well, considering the Skyline GT-R isn't widely available in the US, and even if it was, most of us couldn't afford the insurance on it... let people dream\fantasize about driving a GT-R by sticking a badge on it. Consider it as them recognizing the potential awesomeness of Nissan cars.

I agree with you on this. When i see a Type R badge on an accord i think its kind of dumb but then i think let people do what they please, it's not my place to judge like that. Personally i wouln't put such things on my car, but if i were to buy a GTR badge i would make a necklace out of it and hang it in my room as respect to my favorite car. With a picture of the mighty R-34 next to it

Putting a GT-R badge on a Maxima is rice, putting one on a car other than a Nissan is even more rice. Putting it on a Maxima is like putting a Mustang badge on a Ford Probe, wtf is the point in that...and then putting a Mustang badge on a Toyota Celica could sorta represent the morons that put GT-R badges on Audis and Hondas, even stupider. At least buy a Nissan, you'll look less dumb...

So, SE-R badging is ok for a Maxima? How retarded is that?
I'm sorry, if your car doesn't have the badging, it doesn't belong. In some cases, the badging is already there and shouldn't belong (ie. GSR Badging, ITR badging).

I thought about having a "V6" badge from the Malibus on my Maxima... then i thought "God, that's stupid".
