I finally found a nitrous express dealer in austin (city i live in). Im going to purchase a Nitrous Express direct port setup from them instead of ordering it online. Id rather pay a little bit more and have it installed right then instead of waiting forever for it to be shipped.

Anyway, ive never used N20 before, and i was wondering if a 65 shot would be ok for a beginner like myself? Should i go with a smaller shot? I think they only give you one jet wehn you buy the kit from ProTech. I dont want to kill myself because im spraying too big a shot. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Direct Port is quite a bit different setup, and will require a bit more tuning, but I think the available power levels are deffinetly safer the higher you go. I'm not too familiar with the NE systems or DP, but I would start with a 50 shot and work up from there. Depending on your other mods, a 65 shot might be pushing the limit of your fuel pump, so its better to start off low. You might want to email 1MAX2NV (Tony) and ask him, I know he has a DP setup. It's my eventual goal, but $$$... Good luck!

isn't DP a wet setup, as in the kit has it's own fuel supply. I don't know if it uses a separate pump or not but DP is sweet.

if you ran a 75 shot without a new fuel pump then you are crazier than me.

Most beginners start with a 50 shot or less. What these guys are telling you is true. Research around the Forum. Unless you upgrade the fuel pump, you'll run too lean and potentially blow your engine.

BTW, it's NO2, not N20 (just in case it wasn't a typo)

Actually, it's N2O (nitrous oxide), not NO2 (nitrogen dioxide).

I am thinking about getting the ECU/NOS Upgrade package for my next mod. It says it's a 65-shot, so am I going to have to get a new fuel pump as well as spend $1500 on the kit?

First, the NX direct port kit starts off at 100 shot. They don't recommand anything smaller. NOS's direct port kit starts off at 50 shot. Direct port system runs at OEM fuel pressure. You just need a fuel pump that can flow at OEM fuel pressure. You don't need a high pressure pump like people running the dry kit, but you do need a fuel pump that can flow the fuel needed.

A direct port (DP) is a wet kit. DP are a bit harder to tune since there are jets/nozzles that go into each tube on the intake manifold. If one cylinder gets more NOS then fuel or other way around, the wngine will just turn into a large and heavy paper weight.

With dry kit, its just 1 nozzle that goes into your intake tube. Just remember now to mount the nozzle too close or the closest cylinder will get more NOS then the others and that can cause melt down. Just make sure its about 6 inches from your TB.

The JWT kit is expensive when compared to NOS kits.JWT makes a NOS ECU for 95-96 Maximas. It retards teh timing on the car. That ECU itself is around 600-700 alone. With the NOS kit, its meant to work with the stock internals and ECU and fuel pump.

If you wis to run anything higher then a 60 shot, then i would suggest getting a new fuel pump. Its 110 or so.
