Stock Contour SVT
This guy was sold by marketing. He thinks his car runs between 14.5-14.9. Has anybody raced one? I have a 95 maxima with a y-pipe and short shifter. What's his times stock and what are my chances? I am an excellent driver.
i wouldnt believe it unless hes modded like crazy... i ran with one once but not from a line... he tried to fly around so i busted out of the lane and took off from like 40 i guess, theyre quick but he couldnt keep up with me... i have a 95 auto and had a stillen intake at the time
They are pretty quick. 200hp, 170ft lbs. Check out, www.contour.org and go to the forums. Stock, I think they can run low 15's. They do have a supercharger available too. They actaully have a lot of mods to pick from. Who cares what he runs, race him!! You'll never know until you do it.
stock they can do 0-60 in 6.9 or less they are quick and their are more and more mods coming out for them and the Mercury Cougar.
Actually if i got raped my my situation and lost my Max i woulda bought a Contour SVT

I'm personally friends with about 7 Contour SVT guys in the midwest. I've also watched them dyno. Typically, a modded NA SVT Tour will put down 170fwhp and 155fwtq. One guy here in town has a SC SVT Tour and he made 250fwhp and 190fwtq. The SVTs are rather heavy for their size (3100lbs). They've got good topend (not quite VQ topend) and are probably the best handling fwd compact sedans out there. The best et out of the group NA is 15.0@92mph and average is about 15.3@90mph. The SC Tour is only running 14.7s, but at 102mph. He's got traction problems to say the least.

You should get yourself a aftermarket intake as well. Since you already have a Y-pipe you are going to notice gains for sure!

Have both at the house
The SVT is quick off the line and reasonably fast.
The Maxima feels slower off the line, but accellerates faster from speed.
Stock vs Stock, the SVT will incinerate the Maxima in the turns and the brakes are light years better.
When I get the rest of over $2000 in suspension mods
(eibachs, tokicos, fstb, rsb, fastbrakes, bigger rims and tires + labor) installed, I don't know that I'll be able to say that it's significantly better than the SVT.

They are typical Ford POS, though. My friend just unloaded his SVT Contour because it was a piece of crap. It couldn't stand up to aggressive driving and occasional autocrossing (destroyed the front brakes; no surprise, since Fords have always had ****ty brakes) & drag racing (all 3 motor mounts broke one night and the engine dropped onto the axles), plus had 4 different water leaks. He said that he couldn't get into the 15s, with an intake. I'm glad he dumped that Blue Egg POS and went back to the world of VW. So if you race an SVT Contour, you stand a great chance of winning, just because it will probably fall apart when the driver nails it.
