Hey Guys, my 2K1 max will need a brake job in just about 3000KM. I called Stillen to inquire about brakes parts, here what they suggest me: Stillen Metal Matrix 59$ for front set and 64$ for rear set, SS steel brake line 129$ for front and rear, Stillen Cross drilled rotor 211$ for front set and 236$ for rear set. Does this sound the right stuff to put in ?

I am not ready to spend 2500$ for a new brake system like Brembo or equivalent, I though at first of replacing Nissan OEM brake pads along with SS steel brake line. The original rotor are in good condition so for that reason I would preferably wait just before they fade out like next spring, what do you guys think ?

Perhaps some of you may have better suggestions in terms of parts and competitive prices as well as where to buys.

Thanks for any advise.

Cheers to every one on this forum.

I mean prices seem fine, but the thing is why put all this stuff like cross drilled and stainless lines and what not if you dont use it? Like I mean if you race the maxima often like on racetracks then i see the need for all of it since the stock setup would burn up.

But for everyday use it sort of is not worth the money. This is MY opinion. Good brake pads are the key for sure. But dont know about going cross drilled and steel lines and what not if you aint gonna race.

Let me know if I am thinking wrong.

Yep, $565 plus shipping for the whole kit, Stillen cross-drilled rotors for front and back, SS lines, Stillen matrix pads for front and back, and Motul brake fluid. Same stuff as Stillen, but for a lot less. I'd get it if I could afford it.

Btw, if you think you need a brake job, maybe you should just check your rotors. Check out the stickies for the warped rotors TSB. Maybe it applies to you.

Recently I traveled around 3000K with the car, during the trip one of my goal was to find the weakspot if any. One of them was the brake to my experience. So now I have do it soon, but the rotor are fine and dont need to be change, there not warp or groove. I think you shure have a point it is probably not necessary to spend that kind of money but still I want better brakes and that why I inquire here.

Advice is always appreciate, thanks.

I inspeted the brake last week and I can probably run for another 4000km, anyway I dont want to wait to much, but I may just stick with the original rotor but add SS brake line and better pads, changing everything is around 1100$ plus I would say 2 hrs for the brakes but no idea about SS brake line, I will verify tommorow. I dont think the TSB applied for my Max cuz nothing is defective. I have the feeling that my 4rth gen had better brakes.

cheers

I don't see what great advantage SS brake lines would give you. I mean you're not racing, just cruzing around. Just replace the pads with the Stillen or Repco metal masters and save the rest of your money.

Thanks they have very decent price, BTW when I wrote 1000$ I meant candian $, I just whent to Avalon website and they have an interesting article about brakes, and it seems going cross drilled might not be the best solution for colder temperature ,those perform better at a higher heat level.

Cant wait to go back to To.

cheers
