**Important** GAP Insurance
**Important** GAP Insurance
I would like to express to people how important this insurance is to get. When our 2000 Max was totaled in May 2001, we owed more money than the insurance company was going to pay. Even though the car was in immaculate condition with less than 15,000 miles, they only offered 22,900. The $120.00 one time payment for GAP insurance took care of $7000 left on the loan for the car. Please. Whether you go through a credit union or use the dealership finance department, purchase this insurance.

Thanks for the concern....
It was a head-on collison, one person in the Max (00 SE Loaded). Would have loved to keep the rims, but the insurance company said we would have to replace them with another set. YOu can't tell in the pictures but only one rim was damaged. We now have a 01 20th AE Super Black "Fully Loaded".

WOW!
Firs of all, I am glad you survived that collision! Second the insurance coverage is called "lease/loan gap coverage." He is right, the coverage costs no more than about $100 and is well worth it if you lease, or have a loan on the car.
Good luck!

gap insurance is usually included in the car deal
when I bought my last two nissans, the finance officer insisted I buy that gap insurance. I objected at first thinking it was another add-on sale they make. But after a long argument and explaination, I went for it.
While we're on dealer subject, fyi, the warranty services they sell you have a lot of "margin". I have "beat em up" to the point where they sell me the extended warranty at almost half their original asking price.
Any how, glad you are safe, and thanks for the heads up info.

Pictures
When we went to get our new max, the saleman we deal with was in the process of selling a used 00 Max SE Green just like our old one. He showed the pictures to the people who wanted to get the car. They bought it. The main impact was to the drivers side. All air bags deployed except the passenger side airbag. And if you don't already. WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT.

I have GAP coverage and mine cost about $280 ($5 added to my monthly payment). The coverage is also provided through who I have my loan through. Not my insurance company. Hence the insurance company pays off what they think the car is worth, and my loan company pays off the remainder of my loan.
