What can you use DDS codes for except for reseting?

I recently had to reset my computer because of flshing air bag lights but now I am wondering if there is anything else I can use this feature for?

They pattern of flashes of the Air Bag warning light provides diagnostic clues to a technician. The factory service manual contains diagrams of characteristic flash patterns. These patterns indicate which component(s) of the Supplemental Restraint System are malfunctioning. Most patterns begin with a 7-second flash and are followed by a repeated series of shorter flashes. Two examples:

Repeated series: 1 long, 2 short flashes means the Driver's side air bag module circuit is malfunctioning.

Repeated series: 1 long, 8 short flashes means the Passenger's side air bag module circuit is malfunctioning.

I don't think these flashing patterns are of much use to the home mechanic.

Thanx for the reply

I was wondering if by pressing that button on the driver side door that activates the DDS can you reset or modify the ECU or any other mod or make the car run faster or set it up to do something that is not a standard or something ?

What is the real use for it I know only of one that it can reset somethings on the cars' computer but can it do anything else ?
