Free Car Inspection from Nissan, COOL!

I got a flyer today from Nissan. It says that October is National Car Care Month and the Nissan Dealer will inspect my car for free. It includes a 100 point inspection, and written report. Hey, its free and whatever they find wrong I will have my local mechanic fix, unless its small! They might actually find something that might be a problem now, but could be a huge problem later. If other people didn't get this I suggest calling Nissan and asking for it.

A family member drives an Accord. She got a similar offer from her Honda dealer, and it mentions ...
- a free coupon good for an oil-and-filter change
- refreshments will be served (Yum!)

It's more like, "National try to scare unwary customers into unecessary work month by telling them thier inspection revealed that their engine is going to fall out if they don't change all 18 spark plugs for $20 each + labor".

Man that's a big banner, where do they put such a thing?

Man, Honda owners are soo pampered.

Nissan needs to take some lessons on P.R. from Honda.

I'd like to mention that nothing is free. Ok first since when do dealers not screw you over, since when do dealers tell the truth. None that I know of do.
Youll get some lenghty report of stuff wrong with your car, then they will want to repair it. But wait when you go to signup for this free service read the fine print it may say and I bet it does that any problems found must be fixed at that location or the inspection is not free. Trust me my friend works at a dealership they train this people to lie, steal, and screw poeple!

Your friend must not work at a Nissan dealership. All Nissan dealers are honest and ethical. Their earnest wish is to serve the needs of their community.

It's just a marketing tool that they use to get people into their showroom... Hoping people would come there for service or buy one of their car...

Dealer: "Yea, I just checked up on your car... and sorry to say buddy, but I think you need to buy a new altima from us... you can trade it in exchange for $1.00. 2002 Altima and forget that little sexima whatever you call it!"

I actually called my local dealer, they told me they spend at least 1hr with my car then they tell me what is wrong and how much to fix. I can decide to do it or not. The only thing I found wrong with Nissan (Or all) dealerships is that they cost an arm and a leg. This is prob. because they pay $ to be Factory Auth. Service. I used them for major stuff, other odds and ends I use my mechanic. P.S. My local Nissan dealer ALWAYS has free food while your car is in service!

You can say the dealerships will make up a bunch of stuff wrong about your car...a good number of them probably do...
But who can you trust? Even your best friend mechanic could be a little short on bills this month...
You can be a DIYer, but not everyone has the time/devotion needed to developing this process.

I think we should all raise a maxima.org 4th-gen fund to fly DBM out all over the globe to work on Maximas. I don't even know of any reputable Nissan/Maxima shops here yet, I'm going to have to take my ride to a dealer if anything crops up :/

I posted about this last week....

I got mine in the mail over a week ago.... I WILL take advatange of the offer, just to see what these guys will come up with, lol. I for a fact know that my car is fine... All I need is a tune up.... I think I'm going to get this stuff done before I go to them and then laugh when they say "sir, your car needs a tune up". lol

Oh yeah, and i'm not paying jack.

Is this really worth it?? You already know your car is fine. Why do you want to leave it at the dealer for a day for them to tell you your car is fine?

My rule of thumb is that I avoid the dealer unless I have no other choice.
