is it safe to splice ash tray wire to hook up 12v device?

I opened up the dash around the gear/cig lightter/ash tray light....and i spliced the ash tray wires(not the cig lighter) and connected my indiglo pedals to it. Then i connected blacklight to the pedal wires.

Is this dangersous/unsafe/will cause problems?

is it safer to connect to fuse block instead?

let me know please.

Reding your previous post, I assume that you are afraid of something major happening, like your car burning down. It shouldn't be a problem, if you did a clean job of splicing the wire, and wrapping the whole thing with electrical tape. Make sure there is no posibility of a short. You might blow a fuse somewhere if the pedals pull too much current. Just my opinion...
