300zx cams, rods, pistons - for adding a turbo

Hey you guys, I am new. A friend of mine has a 98 GXE 5 speed that he is looking to turbo. First off, have any of you guys added any parts from a 300zx to your car? Second has anyone ever turbo'd a Maxima on here?

Any guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Instead of ice-skating uphill, why not just supercharge it? Boost is boost. You can get the sc to spin until the engine blows up so what the difference in using a turbo? Sc is already developed while the turbo system is not.

the 300z engine is a iron block design while the maixma engine is basicly totally different being aluminum block design.

Instructions courtesy of member DA-MAX

1. buy a TTZ
2. remove ttz engine
3. cut off rear end of Maixma and throw that away, cause you don't need it anymore
4. buy a ****load of paste and glue and some Bubble tape
5. try your best to attach the engine to the rear of the Max using the items from #4, you gotta use plenty of bubble tape
6. buy a pack of rubber bands
7. attach the rubber bands to the flywheel of the TTZ engine and the other ends to the rear axle
8. use elestic bike straps to make sure everything stays in place
9. now connect a speaker wire from the ttz engine in the back to the stock engine up front and BOOM, you're all done, now you have AWD and TT.... a little added bonus!
10. and lastly put "Twin Turbo" stickers all over the car

Bill you forgot the performance Bubblicous headgaskets! Cherry for 10psi and grape for 20psi. Color coded for less confusion.

300ZX parts swap... The two engines are different and there is essentially zero parts interchangeability. For example, the 300ZX bore is 3.43 inches and the Maxima bore is 3.66 inches. If you install 300ZX pistons in a Maxima engine you would have no compression and it would not run, would not even start.

Instead of making fun of the guy for asking a simple question, why not help him?

That's all fine for the old timers here, but how about the newbies looking for new information? There are discoveries and new ideas that come up everyday, no reason to make a big deal about going to the search all the time.

Step 3: huh?
Step 4: stop after step 2

Sometimes it gets monotnus (damn I can't spell). For example I could pull a post from 8-12 months ago that says basically the samething. Its like we are stuck in a feedback loop, however most of the times its funny in a wierd way

unless the laws of physics change or mechanics stop charging for services, new information is irrelevant.

Search strings:

300z swap

300zx engine

300z motor

300z parts

300zx parts

300zx motors

300z twin turbo

twin turbo

turbo

boost

etc.....

great first impression

To the 2 guys that actually gave helpful comments, THANKS!

To the rest of you, I did use SEARCH, but you could spend hours trying to find the particular information. I know my question isn't a common one like "what intake is best?" or "where do I start?", but yet you treated it as such. Basically you treated me like a jerk. So much for using this site as a place for information.

Since you're in the argumentative mood, let's recap.

You said you used search, so let's take YOUR OWN words and see where it gets us......

Step 1: Search results for "300zx parts"

http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

Step 2: THE FOURTH POST IS TITLED "4th gen max to a 300zx?" and is dated 08/25/2001.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=300zx+parts

Hmmmmm...what does that mean? Could that hold the answer to your inquiry? I would think so.

As you can see from the search results, there are 86 hits for that search string alone. Change it to 300zx engine swap, 300zx engine, etc., and you will get a lot more posts that say the same thing: it isn't practical. You will also find what can work, such as brakes and wheels.

This won't be a good place for you to hang out if you cannot combine common sense with the use of the search engine, and quite frankly, this place has the best info available on this stuff. I know because a lot of us contributed to making it that way.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

ok so obviously there arent any 300zx interchangeable parts, are there any turbo's in the *nissan* lineup that would work in the *4th gen* max ? Turbo's i understand are better than supers because they spool up based on acceleration not a preset rpm. (just what I understand, if thats complete garbage than feel free to flame me)

*ps : jesus this thread is old

*ps.s.: I doubt anyone will even respond its so old
