Since you clicked on this thread, obviously knowning that you're probably as bored as most people are at work. i'd like to discuss the future of modding the maxima.

As you know, and can see from the recent releasing of the new 2k2 maxima, nissan is gearing toward a more luxurous, yet cost efficent flag ship. And we all know the 2k3 and subsequent later years will just get bigger and heavier with Nissan's new "bigger and faster-in-its-class" motto. But what does that leave in the room for playing with a boat in a pond? get the drift. i mean. yea. we can still slap on a custom turbo and coilovers onto the bigger chassis. but that's not going to make it perform the same as the smaller and lighter years.. like the 95 (4th gen) series.. even that gen was somewhat difficult to turn into a true sports sedan. (well. unless you dump like $3k in suspension mods)...

I think that yes.. modding the larger car will help in the "sportiness" of the car. but there comes a point where the maxima will no longer be able to compete in such "small(er) car oriented" events.. i mean. have you ever seen anyone auto-x a 7series? (but i must admit. i saw one person race an old skool 87 taurus once)

hmm.. kinda makes me wunder what is in store for us in the future.. will we turn into an "older-gen" loving organization [think 57 chevy lovers] or maybe evolve into the more gradual "sophisticated" modification scene similar to those on the A6 forum, as the mean age of the maxima starts to increase as the price increases for the car that we have so longed to love and play with...

something to ponder over while eating cookies and watching NOVA on your local PBS station..

i really dont know what you guys are talking about with this 3rd gen talk...... i used to own a third gen, and i loved the car, dont get me wrong,.... and yes the suspension was far superior to the 4th gen..... but i think the 4th gen is a much more solid car...... just like when i drive a 5th gen.... i think that feels more solid than my 95....the engine, suspension...everthing
the third gen didnt even have any cup holders

you must have had a really crappy 3rd gen........but the 95 is still barely a Maxima......none of the extra cost cutting of the 97 to 99 models......
