question about k&n air filters

Does the replacement k&n air filters really improve quarter mile speed and will it effect mileage per gallon?

Re: question about k&n air filters

boosts hp by ~5 and supposedly inproves gas mileage... dont know about 1/4 mile time, never clocked it before or after I put it in... the concensus around here seems to be to f*** the drop-in and get a cold-air intake instead. sorry I couldn't be of more help

I don't think it improves 1/4 times but you might get an extra 1mpg. However the cone filter one ups the K&N panel filter in almost everyway. The cone filter intake did drop my 1/4 time and give me an increase of 1-1.5mpg (without a heavy foot).

The only thing that these things do is make your engine sound a little louder when you accelerate thus making you think that you are going faster.
