No it will not. You can say it will save a little$$$ if you like to clean your filter a lot. In a sense it can keep your mpgs good because if you spend the money on K&N, I believe you should clean it every oil change. In doing so, my 3 1/2 year-old car can still deliver around 30-32 mpg highway at its best, or 26-27 minimum, and has averaged 24.9 for the life of the car.

Thats way too much cleaning. The K&N filters better as it gets dirty. You should clean it every 50,000 at the most. I have two and have not seen any real benefits to the drop in. Just the knowledge of larger volume of air and not having to buy a filter again.

Wow...the two extremes of K&N filter cleaning. Basically, K&N's "1 million mile warranty" calls for cleanings every 50,000 miles, or 20 total cleanings over the life of the car.
If you are meticulous enough to clean the K&N every oil change, I would guess you also use 3000 mile oil change intervals...so after 60k, your filter will have outlived its usefulness as defined by K&N.
The way I see it, at the extreme, my Maxima will go 200,000 miles. That's equal to one filter cleaning every 10,000 miles, which is the interval I use for cleaning my JWT cone.
totally wrong dude

like dude...get out of the 80s
Ummm...wow, where to begin. Can you read?
8 mpg from a drop in...right. The literature you are so familiar with only gives about 1mpg.
Ummm...you bought another filter at 15k...may I ask why?
I have no idea what you are trying to say here...a brand new Nissan what? K&N is far less restrictive than a Nissan filter (if that is what you were trying to claw out).
Wow, where have I heard that...oh yes, I said that in my post. Have you read their literature? At one point you say the K&N is more restrictive clean...now you say it filters better dirty...curious...
Sorry, I was using big people talk there. What I said was (and if you read the literature) thats lots and lots of air (large volume) can move through the less restrictive K&N where not lots and lots (smaller volume) of air moves through a restrictive paper filter. Think of it this way, in your kindergarden class when the 20 kids try to go through the one open cafeteria door, you and a few others inevitably bump into the second locked door over and over. Once your teacher opens the second door, you are free to enter the cafeteria and get your pudding and milk. Its basic physics that you should see if you get accepted to a university in 10 years.
I replaced my original filter at 8k because my mileage dipped from 28 highway to 22 highway. Mileage was restored.
Same thing happened at 15k. Tried the same thing with K&N, and mileage drops at about 4-5k.
K&N cleaned is far more restrictive than a brand-new Nissan.
K&N gets better as it gets dirty, you've read their literature, haven't you?
The K&N filters better as it gets dirty.
Larger volume of air, dude you really read the literature
