NE1 know how to repair dashboard cracks?

I did a search and nothing came up...

I have a 97.
Maybe 6 months ago a small crack appeared in the dashboard vinyl a little above and to the left of the glove compartment.
This morning I saw there was another one, this time a little larger.

I don't know why this would be happening.
No feet are ever put up there.
It is parked outside almost all the time.

Anyway - does anybody know how I can fix this?

I've seen ads on TV for a goop you mix up, fill the crack and apply a piece of plastic with a "grain pattern" that matches.
I am skeptical about this.

thanks

I don't know how to fix it, but I think you are right to be skeptical about some goop you saw on TV. All those TV commercial/infomercial products are BS anyways. You might need a new dash.

Thanks, but

does anybody have any thoughts/ideas/solutions?

- a new dash is not really what I wanted to hear...

Take it to an interior/upholstery shop. They can repair vinyl. I had some tears in the vinyl on my doors, I had them fixed when I had my entire interior dyed. They basically use something similar to that goop stuff on TV, but then they color match it much better.

thanks Shadowman

My dash is balck so I don't think the color match would be very hard.

Anybody have any experience with the tv goop?
