2.5" or 3" Dilemma (backpressure=torque?)

Ok, here's the situation:

I want to get a y-pipe and a cat-back. These are going to be in the very near future. I also plan on getting an s/c eventually but not for a while. So my question is what are the advantages/disadvantages, in terms of performance, of using 2.5" vs 3" piping on an s/c'd car and an n/a one? I don't want to purchase a y and a cat-back that is insufficient or too restrictive for an s/c and have to change the parts later. On the other hand, if I do add a custom 3" cat-back and y-pipe will my performance suffer until I get the s/c? Thanx in adv. my maxima bretheren.

simple.. if you got Turbo, SC, or NOS.. get the 3 inch..
if you are N/A stay with the 2.5..

if you plan to do the T/S/N upgrade soon.. get the 3 from now.. but if you are staying N/A stay with the 2.5.. the N/A VQ doesn't produce enough HP to utilize the 3 and you will be loosing a tad bit more power than the 2.5

another note.. people buy Y Pipes in the for sale forum every day.. if you get the 2.5 now.. you can always sell it when you are ready to get the 3 inch

Hey, that's a pretty good idea. OK, problem solved. I'm going to go with the 2.5" until I really decide to shell out the money for some boost and then sell my parts later. Yay!

Dayum! That's a nice picture. I think Altezza's would look nice BUT ONLY with black housing so that they blend in with the black color. Then maybe they would kinda resemble the Skyline's rear. I don't know, I have a lot of imagination... just wish I had the money

That's cold man. I'm not an Altezza person, per se, just thought they might look cool with a blended black housing color because of the round lights. BTW, I saw a pic of a black max on custommaxima.com with Altezza's that looks ridiculous. I'll be getting rid of the yellow soon, though, that much I promise.
