PIAA 9004 vs. Blue Vision 9004

How do these 2 bulbs compare, other than about $40-60 difference. Are the PIAA's that much better?

PIAA is a better company but spending $80 oin their bulbs is a little much , neither of them have a noticable blue tint but the PIAA will most likly be brighter.........

They are a little whiter and brighter. Not by much though.

If anyone bothered to search, Shingles has pictures of the PIAAs versus Blue Visions.....which is actual proof that spending $40+ on PIAAs is stupid. There is no noticeable difference.

I know because I have PIAAs on the 99 and Blue Visions on the 94 and there is no difference. If anything, the Blue Visions project light out better.

I don't know if people here are just saying PIAA is better because they don't want to feel moronic for spending $40 or $50 more for a marketing package.......

If you don't believe that, then another search would reveal these tests:

First, all you PIAA lovers out there see this European light review:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/doctork...are.php3?id=84

To summarize:

Blue Visions:
Lumen Output: 1,409
Beam spread: 149 degrees
Light output at 75m: 34.3
Light output at 50m: 57.2

VisionPlus ( not available in 9004, only H3 and H4 ):
Lumen Output: 1,590
Beam spread: 155 degrees
Light output at 75m: 34.5
Light output at 50m: 57.7

PIAA Superwhite:
Lumen Output: Failed before measuring
Beam spread: 106 degrees
Light output at 75m: 23.1
Light output at 50m: 42.1

But, hey, these are just tests......

I agree with Bill ... I have Philips BlueVisions up front. I rather spend my $40-$50 extra for something other than lights.

Threads of Shingles' tests are here: http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

i would only reccomend buying the PIAA super whites. IMHO out of about 5 different brand headlights that i have tried from APC-Philips the Piaa has the best light output on the street and looks the closest to HID over any other brand. I had them in my 95 style headlights and they looked like crap, but once i installed the 99 style headlights the light pattern changed dramatically and they have been in my car since.

and if you're going for looks rather than function, the Blue Visions won't satisfy you. If you only want better visibility (the actual purpose of headlights), then Blue Visions are the best for the $$$.

$$$

I agree, the Blue Visions are worth the money. There seems to be some controversy about the PIAA 9004 bulb. I guess the PIAA buyers need to hear from others that they didn't waste their money. I have heard no one say the Blue Visions aren't worth it.

Get the PIAAs but get the Platinum Superwhites, not just the Superwhites. They have a lione of three of four different kinds, ranging from stock look to blue plasma. The Platinum Superwhites look almost purplish during the day, and at night they are a lot brighter than stock, and have a tint of blue, but extrememly white. I love mine, I have the H3s too, they look great.

Go with CoolBlues they are far cheaper and trouble free. I did a side by side when I bought them and they actually are much brighter than stock.
