I Need help buying a used engine

I've called a few place and got some prices, but what are some other this that I need to look for. Most places have good prices and warrantees.....as long as I don't take the engine apart. I'm looking for someone that has bought a used engine before and can give me some advice. thank you

hey i'm in the same boat i found a subaru dealer that is gonna hook me up with one for less than $1000 with 30,000 miles or less .
i guess in japan they have strict polution laws and your not allowed to have a car with more than 30,000 miles so they replace them all the time and sell them to the rest of the world and if you ask me thats not enough miles to even break in a car. this guy does it all the time with his subaru lot.so if i were you i would ask around about this you can get a pretty good deal and your car will run almost like new.

that thing about japan is a myth, people in japan abuse their motors then just toss them out , its cheaper to replace than to rebuild

I found a place in CA that Will Ship a JDM VG30ET to my door for $760 complete with turbo, exaust maniflods, and everythings esle. If I can find a business to deliver it to , the price is $700. They have a 6 month unlimited milage warranty on the long block only. And Guarntee the engine to have between 35,000 and 50,000 miles.

did you call the guy I gave you the phone number to?

Personally, I rather buy the engine from individuals than dealers. Those guys tend to be much more expensive.

What you just said is a myth too. Its called a "shaken" and its a rigorous emissions/vehicle test. Repairs can cost in the thousands so its cheaper just to buy a newer car..

Check the better business burea before buying a used engine. I was going to buy a used transmission from the place in Grand Junction and a place called asap motors online but then I looked them up on bbb.com and both had an unsatifactory record and one was doing business under like 5 different names. If you can find a Japanese engine they are great but check with the bbb first.

Buyer Beware...

Davis has given the best advice possible. Go to the BBB web page or call them. I bought an JDM engine through Midwest Engines, they screwed me big time on my VG30ET, which I am STILL rebuilding. An engine that should had been able to drop into a vehicle and run. They sent me a new water pumpt and told me Tuff, literally.
