Question abotu ABS Light and NYS Inspections
Guys,
I was just wondering if this happens to your cars as well when you take it for a NYS yearly inspection. After they run your car on the machine and you take the car off the machine, the ABS light is on. I am not sure if I am the only one getting that. The first time (3 years) ago when I saw that I was going to have a heart-attack!! But I have seen it in the last two years, and I was wondering if anyone else gets that same problem.
The ABS light goes off after a few minutes of driving--I do have a question: I wonder if this in any way harms the brakes/ABS units?
anyone?
thanks

Yea it happens with NJ inspections as well. The machine that sets the light on is the one they use to test emissions and if NY has the same one, the suspension also. The reason the light is turned on is because the ABS system senses wheel spin in the front wheels only and gets confused, sort of speaking. It treats it as an error. Thus setting your light on. It clears itself after about one mile of normal driving.
thanks for the confirmation:
I wasn't sure but from my previous observations on the ligth I figured that it would just go back to normal.
I assume that the machines are the same ones that both states use to detect emissions in cars. They take the car up to 55 mph and record the numbers...etc.
cool.
thanks
