Max on the way...what to warranty?

After my 5th gen went to the junkyard, I've got an 04 on the way. Should be here tomorrow.

Its an 04 w/ 33K on it. I'm assuming its under warranty unless the in service date was early 04.

If it is......what should I look for to try and get the dealer to service?

Also...I've got an intake, RSW, and FSTB off my 00. Will any of these things fit my new car?

Rich - You will need the in-service date in order to determine if any warranty is left. As the '05s were out by this time three years ago, the in-service date is likely more than three years ago, in which case all you would have left is the last two years (or less) on the power train 5 year warranty.

As info, the '04s were manufactured from January 2003 until July 2004, and first arrived at dealer lots in March 2003.

One of our prolific modders here will have to answer your parts fit question.

I was kind of thinking that ^^^^^ as well.

*With 04's, check your shocks. Listen for the knocking when going over bumps.

*You may have the 'dreaded shimmy'. That is wasy enough to fix if so. get down on your hands and knees at the front of the car. There should be a black, plastic piece of molding that looks like an air dam, remove it.
*Have dealer write up that they have checked your right hub. Wheel bearings go on the SE's on that side fairly often (I have 4 friends, all with se's that have had that happen). I would have the dealership pay to replace if necessary.

*Chrome strips that run along the edge of the roof, they fade, have them replaced right away.

*Get rid of the EAGLE RSA tires immediately. Have the dealership replace them with some Yokohamas, or tires of your choice. But PLEASE do not drive on the Goodyear. There is a recall on these tires that I wouldn't want to have to battle out with Goodyear, let the dealership replace your tires and submit the bill to Goodyear themselves. These tires are prone to hydroplaning and cracking sidewalls. Two members have had tire blow outs at 70 when these sidewalls crack.

This is entirely up to you. Some 5.5 gens had oil consumption issues. I believe that was rectified early enough that not many (If any) have suffered this same fate. Change the oil when you get the car, run it 3250 miles (according to the book) change again, only measure it this time. Check that you are getting back at least 4 quarts. You should have put in 4.25.

If I can think of anything else, I'll add it.

BTW, you will love this beast.

Rich, you've already bought this car, haven't you? This is an old thread that was erased and reposted isn't it?

Ignore all I said.

How's the car running?

Nope not old.....posted earlier this week and got the car last night.

Much different than my 5th gen. Way more power.

Chrome strips are faded - will call the Stealer on Monday.

What else?

My 04 to this day has had zero issues (not even a shimmy and bright chrome strips), enjoy your new ride and welcome to the 6th Gen forum...

I'm hearing a small rattle...sounds like maybe the door handles???

Thanks for the warm welcome.....this is my 3rd Max. Had a 96....replaced it with an Accord.....9 months later I got a 2000.....best car I ever owned until some kid ran a red light and sent her to the final resting place.

I have some advice no matter what anyone says the 5 speed can be destroyed trust me when I say this. make sure you check your tranny fluid often for discoloration. If you are a preventive maintenance guy I would recommend a tranny cooler. welcome to the org....

Mine is a six speed - any preventative maintenance I need to do on it?

Mine are very dull. If its under warranty, I'll try to get it replaced.

Any way to get the in service date other than calling the Stealer?

<snip>...

.
I've brought mine in for a knock when going over bumps. The mech said some upper mount thing was loose and had to be replaced (~$70 for the part). Is that what you're referring to?

Also, rear end seems to ride a little too low. Is that usual?
