A Question 'bout Tranny Cooler

I did some research and read that tranny coolers will reduce the fluid pressure, is it right? How much change of pressure will there be? I don't know what size cooler to get, the lowest GVW is 15,000 and 16,000 and it can get as high as 24,000 and 28,000 GVW. I live upstate and the winter is pretty cold. Should I even consider a tranny cooler? i know that the guys down at florida and at hawaii are enjoying the cooler. But when the winter days can get as cold as zero and below, will the cooler actually hurt the tranny by making the warm up process longer during the winter?

Well I have the Hayden 403. I can't remember the GVW, but I think it's around 12,000. I installed it this past summer when it was really hot, but now I'm up north at school in Chicago. I haven't noticed any sluggishness yet, but I'm definitely expecting it soon. I will probably cover it up with a piece of cardboard or something when it does get colder. If you live in a cold climate then I would not get one beyond 15,000 GVW for sure. The 403 is the perfect size in my opinion.

In your case, I wouldn't even touch one during the winter.. you may want to install one for the summer months, but then all you have to do for winter is disconnect a couple hoses and bypass the cooler.. it's a 15 minute job, done once each spring and fall. that's it..

but definitely go for one of the smaller coolers. the hayden 403 is great.
