Can somebody post a pic of the "shimmy causing" plastic?
Can somebody post a pic of the "shimmy causing" plastic?
I just got my 04 on Friday and want to remove that piece. (Took a few days, but noticed the shimmy today) I want to make sure I'm looking for the right thing....anybody got a pic?
What are those other sources?

It exacerbates the problem.
The "cause" of the shimmy is that Nissan installed steering bushings that were too small for the car. They fixed that in 2005.
The "reasons" the car shimmies are from anything that causes the least bit vibration - as I said, it is multiplied by the weak bushing and hence you feel the wheel vibrating so heavily.
I discovered that when I removed that piece months ago that my shimmy went away - the lip on it vibrates at certain speeds and causes the car to shake.
However, there is any number of things that can cause it - from the smallest thing (such as unequal, high or low tire pressures) to the biggest things (bent rims, alignment).
Anything can cause it that throws the car out of whack - its just on the 2004's any small out of wack problem becomes a major issue.
so.
If we really want to fix the shimmy, is it possible to upgrade the steering wheel bushings to the 2005?
