For starters, do you have ECC in your 96? If not, the swap is nearly impossible.

I have a digital climate control in my 96 se. Did you mean a different one than the one found in the 96s or did you not know they had them too?

Electronic climate control. Even if you have ecc, I don't think 97-99 will work in a 96. If you don't have ecc, putting it in would be difficult and costly.

Do you already have auto climate control in your 96? What so much better about the ACC in the 97+?

oh, no i do not have ECC. how difficult do you think it could possibly be, i mean all you would have to do is run a few wires... i guess the more i think about it the harder it seems, but really guys. is there any write ups on it that you know of?

it's not just running a few wires. This has been covered a few times before and I think one person was actually successful. The ECC is an entirely different system and requires sensors and more than just running a few wire. Don't quote me because I'm not 100% sure but this is what I remember off the top of my head. I think it ended up costing about $1000 or so.

Go to the audio forum. Basically the speakers are design to work with the headunit and vice versa. It's easier and will sound better just to replace the speakers if your replacing the headunit. I'm pretty sure you can use the stock wiriing if you wanted to.

If you already have Bose, just get another Bose unit. I just put the one from my '97 parts car to my friends '95 and it was the same. Worked just fine.

Oh, and I'm going to try to swap my '97 GLE parts car climate control into my '96 GXE. I'll let you know how that goes.
