nice to know but i think Matt93SE was doing this little experiment awhile back. though that VH45DE does look sexy in the 240.

I posted a pic of the VE with Z32 tranny mounted a long time ago.. once I have another daily driver and a spare VG tranny, I'll be doing something pretty crazy with my Maxima... but I currently don't have any concrete plans to start. After doing some thinking on it, it's going to take a LOT of work to make it happen in our chassis. entire front and rear suspension would have to be reworked and the steering rack will need relocated. not to mention tranny tunnel and driveshaft issues. gonna take a lot of work, but I'll figure it out.

Yeah I still have it. It's the DD, and I'm putting a ton of miles on it with work. (driving to Louisiana and back several times a month- about 800mi round trip)... I picked up a junk engine and built it up- higher compression pistons, ported heads, etc.. there's a thread in the all-motor forum about it. Wound up being pretty underwhelming on the power, but there's lots of stuff left to do with the engine before I give up on it. I don't think the hard chrome rings ever really seated properly, so it's just not making the power it should.

don't you have a VG in your car? are you seriously gonna make this your VE project? go for it. i still have my turbo sitting in my room and haven't been able to get any progress done in getting a spare VG motor to start building it. i do have a spare VQ with auto tranny in my shed but thats just to do a complete rebuild and sell it to another VQ guy.

nope. VE-5 all the way....i'm parting out a 91 VG SE Auto though....and this was just a consideration.....seeing the tranny bolted to the VE like that is just some kind of inspiration.

lol i guess so. i had some guy in a datsun 280z the other night tell me how much HP my engine had, and all this other junk. i was like "wrong, wrong, and wrong."

then later some guy at the same little party bet $200 on a race, he was in an eagle vision with a 3.1, but thought i was rockin a 4-banger. i shouldn't have told him otherwise. (i don't race like that but it would have been a quick $200 methinks)

yeah i had some idiot driving around in a 3rd just like mine but without the stillen kit, E36, and clear corners. he told me that he had the VE motor in his. so i proved him wrong after i told him many times that he had the VG under his hood and told him the differences between both models (Exterior and Interior wise). he felt like a bigger idiot when i popped my hood and compared it to his and show him the VIN. i felt good that day.

there was a time when i didn't know anything, yet still thought i did......which may not be too far off even these days....but i remember a few times getting my foot put in my mouth by others for acting like i knew what i didn't.

some people have to learn the hard way (only i wasn't doing it to show off, i was mostly misinformed, or didnt fully research.)

if anyone wants to play with RWD, come to nashville and set up a tent for a few weeks (months and months) and we shall be started. ;x

Actually it doesn't surprise me that someone wants to use some heavy arsed iron blocked v6 to purposely hang the rear end of a 240sx all the time.
