Fuel Pump Help. Matt? Jeff? Nevin? Anyone?

Alright, i spoke to my mechanic because now the car wont even start. he said its the fuel pump. which i know firmly believe because i dont even hear it turning on when i try to start the car or when the key is on "ON". now, the shop i get all my parts from says the pump will run me $250+tax. what are my alternatives for "better than stock" replacements? i plan to use NOS or have a turbo/sc installed in the near future (before next summer) so i want something that will not have to be replaced because of that.
will the walbro 255LPH that the 4th gen guys use fit my VE? if not does walbro make one for 3 gens?
how about the Z pumps?

the Walbro 255 Pump will be fine. THE MAX was using one in his 3rd gen with 80 shot NOS! check out the site here---> http://web.walbro.com/product.htm

The Walbro one might be the ticket. I don't know of many 3-gen guys that have upgraded their pumps yet. If it works well w/ the 4-gens, there's a good chance the 3-gen one would be an easy fit also.
